I’ll be busy for awhile lol I scored a pair of oem doors and am going to be building half doors out of them. Picking them up this weekend.

Edit: plus I did all my tubbing with my alignment in this spot. I worry if I move the tire a little forward it’ll rub up front when stuffed. Everything barely clears so I try not to change anything.

I have only owned cars my life so doing truck things is pretty fun for me. My parents basically bought an entire patio so I had her pretty loaded up today

Remove that vent and seal it up or whatever you want to do is fine. Mine doesn't have it and apparently this guy's truck...
    Screenshot_20200520-204749_DuckDuckGo.jpg
    ... doesn't have it either.

However if you have the man power, I'd really appreciate you taking someone with an excellent ear in the back of your truck while you drive your truck around and figure out exactly where all of that noise is coming from, there has to be a design flaw, it sounds like a freakin window is open in my truck and I've read others saying similar things.

I didn't do anything to my Tacoma today other than work it's ash off as usual. This is a very heavy milkshake machine.

Four hundred and fifty-five cubic inches of Oldsmobile milkshaking machine. It's gotta be every good of 750 pounds. I'm slamming bump stops on the smallest of bumps lmao.

I wish I could but I learned that vent is there for cabin pressure. If I seal it up I could blow out an ear drum or window haha. Also the road noise is a bit annoying also stated by another member on the last page.

I've been trying to gather all the info I can to find the best way to eliminate road noise by imitating the original plastic panel and add storage. Been given a few good suggestions, we'll see how it works out

Regarding your truck, I did notice the 4 door doesn't have the center vent. Maybe because it's a bigger cab it's in a different spot? I learned the road noise your hearing is probably the vent flaps. They are very thin and very cheap. They can get stuck open sometimes. (I'm no expert on this, I could be wrong)

Here's one thread on it, I'll try and find the other thread.
    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/road-noise-from-rear-cab-vents.412801/

    Hope this helps

Got the 3-wire loom through the driver door grommet fron the door controls up to the void over the side vent and the connectors done on the ends. Then swapped in some 10k resistors for the “auto” window led so it matches the brightness of the dash leds now that they’re all white instead of mixed. There’s a reason youtube videos show stuffing the passenger side grommet, accessing the driver’s side behind all the fuse panel wiring is a biotch. One of the three wires connects to a fuse tap on the door lock fuse which is always hot.

FYI - We're down to (3) V1 LED lights available. The Amber-White-Amber units are SOLD OUT completely. If you were ever considering a FLYZEYE v1, now is the time. We still have about (22) V2W LED lights that can be built... Tick Tock.

Not sure about access cab but my 2010 dbl cab vents located on outer side of cab in rear . So rear side panels hiding those . So assuming all 2nd gen located same place :notsure: Only noticed when under my truck the other day.

    @DG92071 this

@hemitruk The later 2nd gen access cab vents changed from 1 to 2 from what I saw in that thread. I'm glad I only have to deal with one

Every truck has a rear cab vent (or two) -- my F150 had real nice louver style ones that had deadening installed within. My Tacoma only has the single with the scoop (access cab, scoop to keep water from infiltrating) - with my MOLLE panel in place, deadening installed on the outside of it, and my extinguisher in front of it, it's much less obnoxious. The secret is just getting something in front of it to break up the road noise that bounces around in there.

I'm actually continuing this project today and adding Noico's closed cell foam behind the molle panel. I'll update with pics later.
