I would go 0-3 just in case later on you want a little more you got it plus I believe their is a little more shock travel so less worries of damaging the shock. It will work great at the height your wanting and @AccuTune Offroad will get you valved up for a really nice and smooth setup. Looking forward to your review and pics for sure

 

I have about 2.5" of lift over stock in the rear. Looking to upgrade rear shocks, can anyone recommend a Fox shock? A lot I see are for stock or up to an 1" of lift over stock.

 

The 2.0 setup with remote resi will get you there or some people run the rear 2.5s but im sure @AccuTune Offroad will get you the hookup your looking for

 

Thanks Tony. I'll be looking to replace my Dobinsons set up soon and figured I'd give Fox a look! Looking for at least 2" lift in the front and a shock to run with my Dobinson's springs in the rear. I only got 1.5" from the Dobinson's coilovers up front and really wanted at least 2".

 

well the Fox 2.5s will be able to get all of your 2 for sure up front with some room to spare if wanting more as well as a really nice ride . Easily adjustable by turning the collar and even more adjustability for ride comfort with the DSC's. The fox ride is great and install and adjusting was a breeze which made me almost as happy as my first drive with them . I hear nothing but great reviews of the guys at @AccuTune Offroad and if you let them know your wants/needs and setup or plans for the truck they will get you dialed right in for a great experience.

Sounds like you're getting it narrowed down, but I thought I'd chime in. I've never had the OEM Fox set up, but I do have AccuTune 2.5 DSC all the way around, I do quite a bit of hwy travel & I really like this set up, nice & smooth but will firm up if I hit something to hard. I started with all adj. to the softest, I've found that I keep firming up the adj with my increase in speed offroad & still very nice on the hwy. CO hwy's are crap too & I generally exceed the speed limit a bit so my set up gets a work out on pavement too!

 

If you go with extended length coil over you’ll need to get UCA’s too.

 

Keep in mind our discussion about the stock TRD Pro 1" lift. Like mentioned, 0-3" will require an upper control arm. 0-2" will not. These lift heights are referencing a standard Tacoma, and not the TRD Pro.

 

What preload should be set for Fox 2.5 to fit a 285/70/17 tire?

 

Preload/lift height will vary with vehicle weight. You will need to adjust that once its on the vehicle to get the lift height you want. Lift height is not the only thing needed to fit big tires. Cab Mount chop may also be needed

 

Yea, I'm waiting to see how everything fits before getting the CMC.

 

It will depend on what wheel you want to run and the tire manufacturer. Some 285-70R17 run slightly different in size. Also adjusting caster can help some with clearing the cab and if you keep the air dam on like I did I would recommend trimming it down slightly just so it doesn't touch the tire. I am running bfg ko2's 285-70R17 with FN FX Pros and they fit great due to the backspacing of the wheel. You will also have to watch the clearance of the upper control arm when going up in size. Hope this helps you out a little bit when deciding

my pro is lifted 1 1/2 in now,thats 1 1/2 over stock, with stock uca's with no problems . except the broken spring, could i not lift it 1 1/2 in with the 0-3 and have the same non issues, but do a new uca later if i want to go alittle higher.. thanks , or just get the 0-3 and see what happens after install , thanks again for your patience, gonna order something this weekend..

 

Did you put a spacer lift on your pro? Then break a spring and wonder what happened? Dude. Smh.

 

yes i did about 2 weeks ago, if i did not put it on, i would not have known my spring was rusted and about to split.. and about to break anyway, cant blame a spacer for a rusty split coil, rust doesnt happen that fast, there is another 3-4 in piece missing.. im just gonna buy a new front suspension thats adjustable.. and uca's and get it over with.. in 2 weeks.
