Entune for navigation

I would love to use my touch screen for navigation. Does the entune work what works best?

 

On my 2019 you have to download the APP Scout on your phone and then I think it is already pre-installed on the Toyota Trucks, Only one that works on the touch screen. Now the 2020 should have Apple Play and that should work with what ever is on your phone.

That would be a game changer if I could get it to connect. I must be the dumbest kid in school.

 

You must have an SR or SR5 model, because navigation comes preinstalled on TRD levels and up without the need of the Scout app on smartphones. That was why I ended up buying the TRD model, among other reasons, because I wanted built-in navigation, not something I needed my phone for! I use it all the time, and although for the most part it works well, one thing I do not like is when you get to your destination, it says "You have reached your destination" and that is it. On my garmin, it says something like you have reached your final destination on the LEFT or RIGHT. I have found myself using the Entune builtin navigation for a destination, and when I get there, it says "You have reached your destination", but I then have to look around because there are places on both sides of the street and I don't know which side it is on! Annoying!

 

The built in Entune navigation is poor. That’s what leads many to seek an alternative and why Toyota has finally moved to Android Auto and Apple CarPlay in 2020.

 

Other than the ubiquitous "You have reached your final destination" message that it gives, I have had no problems with the builtin Entune Navigation. It took some getting used to, since I have been using a Garmin for years, but I have somewhat gotten used to it. I DO wish there was some way though, to be able to plug in some kind of Garmin device that would then display on the Entune screen, as Sirius XM does when its attached device is plugged in. IN fact, I wonder if it is possible to get rid of the Sirius XM device and then be able to plug in a garmin device that would then show up on the display as an option? That would be great, in my own humble opinion!
