Yeah from what I heard those Sokietech's you don't have to drill and rivet.

I just installed Spiker Engineering’s hood struts. They mount in super sturdy, and I loved that the kit allows the hood to open an additional 6 inches over the stock hood prop. Worth every penny.

It is ironic to install gas struts to make it easier to access something you never intend to work on, but living in the desert, I end up hosing out & cleaning my engine bay around every 3K-5K miles. A clean engine=A happy truck.

I ordered the sokie’s through Ebay in the standard black. It was 65 shipped. Seems the seller no longer has them in stock.

I had the Redline Tunning on several of my XJs. It's a mod you really don't notice the importance of until they are installed. Especially if you're under the hood constantly. Im interested to see how the Sokietech install with no drilling. The Redline Tuning require drilling and rivets, so a rivet gun. They worked great on several jeeps and lasted till I sold them.

Also has anyone installed any hood struts that also have ditch lights installed?

You can get the parts for less than half that cost from Lift Supports Depot: https://www.liftsupportsdepot.com You'd just need to know what length, weight and where to mount.

The Spiker kits are the only ones out there that allow you to set your hood height to where you want it - so in case of ditch lights, you just set the hood height to leave a ~1/2" gap between the ditch lights and the windshield.

Can't really control the open height with these, so may not work with ditch lights.

You could very easily get different lift struts that are shorter. No drilling > drilling.

Ordered the Sokie Tech. I'm not a fan of drilling holes if it can be avoided. Interesting that it uses the bolt hole where the body is grounded to the battery.

I've thought about doing that myself. Except I don't know the length, weight or what type of mount needed lol has anyone went this route yet?
