$165 is just the mounts. Still not a bad deal for mounts that should hole everything up there with a really good fit.

Anyone have any experience with Camp Partner Stoves? Specifically their 2 burner stove. They have quite the price tag but I'm needing a new medium sized stove and wondering how this will work

Earlier today i spotted this car tailgating this Suv by like 8ft. I thought to myself "dam what the fuck is this guy doing"

So i sped up a little to see what was going on and i spotted it... This fucking suv was TOWING this car with a tow strap on the freeway, doin like 70mph. (I was in the slow lane doin 65mph b/c my exit was 1/4mile up) The towstrap looked like it was tied in a knot around the suv's hitch. I couldn't believe my eyes. I tried to snag a good photo but i couldnt do it without doing some unsafe hoodrat shit of my own. But i did get a shitty pic before i took the exit, you cant see the tow strap b/c its behind my mirror but you can barely see the back of the suv in front of this guy.

    20200521_095038_HDR.jpg

A bit later i spotted @Anderson lookin a little naked.

    20200521_113943_HDR.jpg

As i merged onto the freeway i saw this Tacoma missing the rear half of the truck and said to myself "what the fuck is this"

Then i spotted the license plate and i knew.

You mean the Partner Steel stoves?

I just got a 22" yesterday. My observations so far: Heavy and well constructed. It seems like it might be better in the wind too. Control knobs and gas connection are recessed meaning they don't catch while moving the stove-definitely less susceptible to damage overall. When you remove the grill, the burners come with and the case can be easily cleaned out. It's 10k BTU per burner. idk that you'd want to run it on the small bottles. The instructions suggest adding something to the grill if you plan to use a full sized griddle (to avoid trapping gas in the stove body).

I'm happy so far. I got a spares kit and a bag-the bag came from Blue Ridge Overland. The stove came from Clavey Paddlesports in Petaluma.

    Oops, yes - that's what I mean.

I've got a Campchef Pro 30X stove for longer trips or easy trips that I don't care as much about weight, a MSR pocket rocket for super light weight trips, and I want something to go between them. I've seen a lot of mixed reviews about the Coleman and Camp Chef stoves that are that 2 burner suit case style collapsing stoves so I'm on the fence about them.
I think the 2 burner 16" would be perfect but damn is that price hard to justify without seeing many of them out there.
I've got a 5 lb propane tank I'd run it with

I just got a Camp Chef Explorer recently and have been happy with it so far. Camp chef makes some good stuff.
Cool that I can take the legs off and use it on my tailgate too if I want.

I have the single version of this and it's just a bit inconvenient to bring with me. Hoping for something a little smaller/lighter/better packing

I have a Coleman Grill/Stove Combo. Works fine on my tailgate as well as when I am boat in camping. If I were to do it again I would spend more on a quality unit. Don't get me wrong it works fine, but I am going to upgrade when it eventually breaks.

Yea not ideal for every wheeling trip, but plan to take it on the more "leisure" ones where I don't mind the weight or space it takes up.
Also have an old coleman folding two burner stove that I take on everything else pretty much.

The biggest problem with Camp Chef and Coleman has more to do with their quality. Which I believe has gone down over the years. They still produce heat and work but things like the clips the hold lids break (the one on my Camp Chef broke after just one use). The Coleman’s burner controls were cracked after just a single season. During the second season, it developed a gas leak. So I’m two stoves in after maybe three years. Not sure if it’s just rattling around or cheap nature of the newer products are to blame.

When I was researching, I learned the Partner Steel are used primarily by the river rafting and “base” camp groups because they don’t break while being transported and they stand up to heavy use.

I’m sure I could probably buy a couple more cheap stoves but I decided to Try something different. I couldn’t decide which of the two burner ones to get. But with 22”, I can get two large pans on the stove.
