Well, 3 hours of xda forums later, its not possible. Bluetooth is crippled in either the software or the firmware and none of the devs over there have gotten it working.
Kinda sucks as that was one of the main things I was looking forward to with this headunit... I wanted to be able to control my DSP right from the headunit. Guess Ill toss a spare tablet in the glovebox.

Hopefully there will be some future versions that joying makes that will let bluetooth work... maybe a new android 10 or 11 model will be out in a year or 2.

Thanks for all the help in this thread. Lurked for a long time in here. Thanks @5nahalf for letting us jack your thread. Your audio build looks awesome and out of my league.IMG_20200422_191144.jpg

How was the install? Any issues with the head unit that you find annoying?

No I didn't have any issues with the install on my 2017. Especially if you give this thread a read over. I just used the OEM TRD Etune bracket so that was simple. Sound is great and everything works fine so far. It's really everything you want the Etune to do.

Only annoyances are not being able to change the Celsius to Fahrenheit on the home screen(I even found the setting to change it in factory settings and nothing happened) and the lessened quality on the home screen. There are a lot of settings to dig through and it takes a little getting used to where everything is but it's not bad.

This is still happening to me for those tracking bugs and issues. Almost every start, I have to "leave" CarPlay, then re enter it. I mapped CarPlay to the Nav button, so it's just two quick presses, but it's still a minor inconvenience. not sure if there's a setting I'm messing up wit the audio output on boot up.

Just installed the joying android unit, thanks for all the info!!

Only one point of confusion, how do I get it so that I can plug my phone into the oem USB slot below the console and have it recognized by the joying unit?

You may have missed a plug in the back. Did you plug anything into the USB ports on the back on the headunit? There should have been a grey plug coming from the truck that went into an adapter that comes with the headunit. The other end of the adapter is USB and goes into the back of the headunit.

I'm sorry for all the questions guys, but did anyone have issues with Google maps while tethered over hotspot to your phone? It will load the route but then my location will never change and it will say "GPS signal lost"

No not those. It's another one. Those you don't use. There is one more back there that plugs into an USB adapter that came with the unit. I don't have mine taken apart right now to show you.

Sorry if this has been talked about before, but I just ordered a similar stereo the PX6 from car trim home. My question is, doesn't that cable that this connects to also supply the FM radio reception? I believe this is the stock connector that I purchased the adapter for that went from this white OEM connector shown above to the aftermarket FM male connector that plugs into the radio for FM antenna. So is there another adapter that is used for FM radio signal? Thanks and sorry if this is confusing.

IIRC, there are two identical wires. The one coming from the right is the radio, the one coming from the left of the dash is GPS.

I have this issue on occasion as well. If you click on the little airplay looking icon on your phone, it shows where the audio is going. In my case, whenever it’s not playing through the speakers but it says the audio is playing, it’s because it’s playing to the JY-Android bluetooth setting (head unit) but i’m in carplay mode. There should be another selection on that airplay menu that says localhost and has the airplay logo. Select that and the audio will start playing again.

Only happens to me if I run into a gas station or something quick and then come back out to the car, not terribly often, but that’s the solution. Your method may be faster, but that’s what’s going on!

I havent read all the way through this Joying forum posts, but the fix should be to wire directly to the speaker wires, and not through the oem amplifier. The OEM speaker wires for the jbl system are in a harness behind the right rear passenger seat plugged in to the factory amp. I cut them off of the harness and soldered extensions and ran them directly to my aftermarket amp. For you guys wanting to use the joying unit for powering the speakers, this sounds like the only option I have read so far?

Once in a while randomly the rear camera feed will display while I'm driving. Sometimes eventually goes away on it's own or will stop/start the truck and it will go away. Bit frustrating, as can't use the headunit for anything else while it's happening. Anyone else run into this? Figured it might be due to the Canbus setting. On that note, anyone else get it to pick up the temp? (Mine always at 0 degrees). I am on the November Joying firmware and using the XP > Camry canbus setting.

Also to contribute something, I found the Zlink app was horrible for Android Auto, many bugs. Bought the relatively cheap Headunit Reloaded app and it is excellent -- several options, supports wired/wireless, and excellent dev support. Much better than Zlink if you're using Android Auto.

Did you end up switching yours out for this Joying model? And if so what all did you buy in order for it to work?

Install was a breeze with all the info available here. Thank you.
    A few questions:
    1. FM radio? I can't seem to get any FM. Ideas?
    2. Camera guide lines, can they be turned off?
    3. Is the GPS/GLONASS receiver that comes with the unit better than the stock GPS receiver? I purchased the adapter to utilize the stock receiver, but if I'm missing out on a better experience, I'd like to know.

    Thanks!

FM is a little weak, but make sure you have the antenna plug fully seated.

Am I missing an adapter to plug the white connector to the FM input?
Anyone have a picture of it, or a link to purchase?

    Thanks
