    Good morning, TW.

I'm probably beating a dead horse but I have a few unanswered questions after many hours of searching. I'm going to look at a 1996 3.4l v6 4x4 T100 complete axle assembly on Saturday. I noticed that more guys are installing the Tundra axles and very few with the T100's. I also know that some Tundra axles are different, not in length but with the brakes (ABS). I also know that this swap isn't a bolt on and I plan on making my own mounts anyway. I want to make this swap as painless as possible. I don't want to waste money buying a T100 axle if it's better to buy a Tundra axle. If there is any other information about this swap, it would be greatly appreciated.

    Questions:
    1. Did Toyota make the same axle for both trucks?
    2. Is the T100 and Tundra axle the same length?
    3. Can I upgrade the T100 drum brakes to disc, if so, what brake kit can I use?
    4. Why use a Tundra axle and not a T100?
    5. What should I be looking for before a purchase.

    Thanks.

    I simple thing production !

Getting T100 parts is so very interesting

The only parts that interchange are the engine

My Local dealer both the Service Manager and the Parts Manager call the T100 the new coke of Toyota

Some parts mix between the T100 and 1st Gen Tundra. "The T100 had a Toyota Truck 8" rear axle that was widened for it's increased stance. That's the only difference between it's rear axle, a hilux rear, or a 4runner rear of the same years. The Tundra has a 8.4" rear third member, NOT an 8". it's stronger, plain and simple." https://www.yotatech.com/forums/f28/tundra-vs-t100-looking-upgrade-97834/

Rear Disk kits for the axle are expensive. But if your dead set on disk brakes, you might want to look for a 4th+ Gen 4Runner or Sequoia (01-07) rear axle.

Can I use my Tacoma 3rd member on the T100? I have that geared with 4.88 and the E-locker?

@mattvivsound Thanks for your help. I think I'm going to wait and find a deal on a Tundra axle. Do you recommend a particular year? I noticed that Tundra has a v6 and a v8 model axles with and without ABS.

I haven't researched into the Tundra axles, but it sounds like there was only one rear axle option. Looking at Rock Auto, it looks like there was also 1Ton axle option on the Tundra. I know once they went to the 2nd Gen Tundra, everything was changed and no longer shared Tacoma parts.
