Your stumpy is likely boost spacing, 148 rear. If the cranks you’re looking at aren’t boost compatible it’s likely a no go.

The next thing to look at is the spindle diameter. If you’re current crank/BB spindle specs aren’t the same as the replacement cranks, you may need to change BB. That’s just a guess though. I only do basic wrenching.

GT Aggressor Pro...not upgrading the stumpy yet lol.

I also believe the BB on the GT broke this last weekend, but waiting on the Park Tool Crank puller to find out..

Did a thing. If anybody needs a spare 29" boost wheelset let me know I'll give it to you cheap

Is it possible to convert a Specialized Crosstrail into something more of a trail bike?

Honestly, that project one paint scheme was a bit of a let down in person.

Could very well have been the lighting though.

I’m all about crazy colors but that might be too much for me haha. I’m a big fan of those chameleon colors that a lot of brands have been using with the base purple or black with purple pearl
Possible, yes to a degree, idk if I would do it though. What part of MA are you in? I’ve been up here for a little bit and the trails are pretty rocky so a cross trail might not be a ton of fun

Thanks for the response. I'm in Central MA. Just was wondering if it would be worth doing or just look into picking up an actual trail bike.

It’s definitely possible. I’ve been staying with my parents in Walpole since all this nonsense started and been riding Adams farm mostly. It’s been tough on my 29+ hardtail. With that said I rode out to F Gilbert state forest In foxboro last weekend and did some of the doubletrack on my gravel bike and that handled it, just not as comfortable as a real mtb would be.

The cross trail should probably not be hitting drops or jumps either

I'll second what @113tac said above, you will be happier in the long run just getting a trail bike.

Rode my normal 38 minute loop in 31 minutes last night thanks to a combo of my Stache and going deep in the paint cardio wise. All that time was gained on the uphill too, cuz my downhill times were def slower being used to my slacked out enduro sled and not a comparatively twitchy and steep Stache.

Still feelin that one this morning, but the endorphin rush was amazing.

I felt that way yesterday, all out for about an hour, i thought I crushed it. But according to strava my power was a good amount above average but my times just weren’t good haha. Probably because I did the same and made up time on the climbs where I’m normally not good and too tired for the faster sections haha

One of my buddies sports a pink fullface for park days on his DH bike. Before a race last year, we added streamers and a wicker basket to the front, and he raced it that way  Somewhere, I have a pic of him smashing this gnarly rock drop alt line and the teddy bear we put in the basket is like 8 feet up in the air
