    Hi,
Well, I've started to process and have sent emails to several local dealers. I'm looking for an '11 TRD Sport Long Bed 4WD with the Tow package. KBB, NADA, and Edmunds all list the invoice price as right around $28,700 or so. Almost all of the dealers seem to be coming back with "invoice pricing" of $29,606. It's interesting that they seem to have the exact same number. Not sure who to believe here, but I have a pretty good idea it's not the dealers. Are the KBB, NADA, and Edmund's numbers accurate?
Thanks in advance for the help!

Use the Edmonds TMV price. It is accurate and based on real sales. If you pay TMV or less you are doing well. Don't worry about the invoice price, the dealers get holdbacks and the invoice won't reflect their actual cost.

I would say $29K+ would be more accurate. Maybe has the JBL? I'm assuming it's DC right? I haven't seen a DC TRD here without it.

try www.truecar.com. Very accurate with invoice.

Exactly, that's why I'm hoping to pay invoice or less. I'm just confused as to whose numbers are more accurate. I find it hard to believe that KBB, NADA, and Edmunds are all wrong.

Thanks for the input so far.

If it has port or dealer add-ons, then the on-line invoice price won't reflect those, or have the correct prices for them. Also, the on-line invoices can be out of date.

Yep, they have holdbacks, etc... but it would be very difficult to have them sell less than invoice but it can be done. Right now I don't think they have a problem selling Tacoma's hence no incentives. Not even for the 2010's.

Is it something simple like they're adding in the destination charge, and you're using the Edmunds tool "pre-destination?"

Just ignore KBB and that should clear up most of the confusion, it is never accurate.

So I did the Truecar thing and it came back with dealer cost at about $28.8. The interesting thing is that it came up with a best offer from a dealer at $28,860. That's from a dealer in Madison (I'm in Minneapolis). That's OK though. I'd be willing to drive for the best price. This also gives me a good number to negotiate with the other dealers. We'll see if Toyota comes out with any incentives or rebates tomorrow. I'm not holding my breath.

They told me when you build one using NADA.com or one of the others, there's certain packages that they all have from the distributor. (For instance, I built one without the towing package b/c I had a friend that could install it for me cheaper down the road, but the dealership told me they ALL have it straight from the distributor that way). Maybe that's the difference in price.

I've seen that as well. I'm really trying to account for everything, but I'm not seeing anything that should add up to an additional $1000 on the invoice. The offer I got from TrueCar should make the point moot anyway.

Got my Sport 4x4, double cab, fully loaded for $30.5k. That's below TMV for that vehicle and I was happy with the deal.

I can tell you right now that Toyota will not have any incentives for 2011's. Not until at least March 2011 and that's if sales are down. Look at the 2010 4Runners, no incentives whatsover!

No need to drive far, just have another dealer match the price.

TMV has the truck I'm looking for at $29,867 and TrueCar has Invoice at $29,622, Average Paid $30,167 and Dealer Cost is $29,072.

The lowest I could get a dealer at is $29,650, which I think is a pretty good price.
