Well, guess I'm a Taco owner now.
For the past few years I have driven a lifted Jeep, but I took a job a couple years ago that requires me to do more traveling than I like in a lifted 4.0l Jeep so I bought my mothers 2006 Rav4 when she went to trade it in and they low balled her on the trade in value. After driving the Rav4 for a couple of months I borrowed my stepdads 2009 Taco to move something and he is now saying that I have more use for a truck than he does so he is trading with me.
So I now have a 2009 base model 2wd Taco with a 4 banger and extended cab with the little suicide doors. It's in pretty good shape and only has 80k miles on it so it should last me for a long time to come.
Starting to think of how I can "make this truck mine"... it's as plain as can be. If a truck came in vanilla, this would be it. Silver, small tires, steal wheels, black plastic bumper, craptastic factory speakers, no power anything.... it looks just like this...

Honestly, I like these base model trucks for commuting daily. I’ve thought about buying a regular cab. The only thing I would do is upgrade radio and speakers then throw some new wheels on it. The rest comes as you go.

Zersko, DEFINITELY upgrading the radio, double din, new speakers, 10" sub. Going to tint the windows, probably upgrade the wheels (it has the stock size 215/70R15 tires on it). The headlights need to be replaced so I may go with a slightly smoked headlight/tail light set and add fog lights. The driver side fender is pealing so that will need to be fixed. Debating if I should get it repainted or just do grey Raptor liner on the whole thing and be done with it.
No intentions of trying to lift it or squeeze bigger tires under it. I have a baja Bug and will probably sell my Jeep and buy another one in the next couple of years so the Taco will remain a daily driver.

Darker tint looks great on silver and if you get the smoked HL/TL that truck will look great

I haven't even thought about messing with anything under the hood. I have no intentions of modifying anything on the drivetrain. This will be a daily driver so it will stay close to stock as for as mechanics go... unlike my Bug and Jeep.

I've got the 2010 Access Cab with the 6 cly. It gets between 22 and 24 mpg on premium unleaded. So I a happy camper. My 1986 4 cly only got 16 mpg no matter what I put in it. With the extra room behind my seats I can carry most of my tools and don't need a tool box or canopy. More room in the 6 ft bed to carry loads.

I love my SR access cab Utility, long bed. Huge storage room with no back seats in it! Also got the bed extender when I bought it thrown in for free, lower the tailgate flip the extender down and it can haul a lot of brush or a big Christmas tree, lumber, etc. Yep, this is a real, actual, truck and it didn't cost me an arm and a leg. :D
