Just bought some Crosby shackles and a new tow strap from there. Their prices are great!

Good grief. Seems like a great deal. Smittybilt 97495 XRC-9.5 Gen2 for $350 shipped. There's no problem swapping to a different fairlead right?(not a fan of the rollers).

Really like my smittybilt pulled a small tractor out a couple of times, youll be surprised the uses you find for a winch.
Yea itd be okay try and avoid too sharp an edge but they are pretty tuff but will wear more thank a shackle.

Yep, I used the winch on my 4 wheeler to pull the canoe up the bluff behind our house. I never would have dream to do that. I've also used it to pull a PTO auger onto a trailer(without help). And oh yeah, it worked great pulling me out when I buried it in the mud. I had just bought my brand new 06 Kodiak 450 4x4, independent front and rear suspension, locking diff etc. It came with a free winch promo that I had to install. I thought "I'll never be able to get this thing stuck". First time I took it out, I buried it on the edge of a reseeded pond within 30 minutes. Super glad I had installed the winch. :mudding:

Ok guys need some input. So as a lot of you might know a 4x4 conversion requires you to drop down the transmission crossmember on a prerunner about a .5 and towards the rear a whole inch. I was thinking of doing it that way. I started think and it migh just be easier to do a transfercase crossmember and have a lot more clerance under the truck. My question is does the crossmember add a lot of support to the frame or is it just for the transmission? I feel like a transfercase crossmember would be the way to go even if I added the crossmember back in there with nothing attached to it.

That is nice, I really like that, it will defiantly strengthen up the transfer case.
I installed one like it on my samurai

Yea might just run a transfercase mount instead of the transmission mount.
