Hey bud.. be careful with the heat... I used a little propane torch and because the pine strips are glued together you can warp it more if you heat it too much too long.

Go WITH the grain of wood and start from one end and go to the other.. overlap like you were spray painting it and keep the torch moving... turn the torch off if you get distracted and don't try to get the burn depth all at once.. do it a little at a time and go back over it 4 or 5 times

I'm definitely gonna practice a lot before I torch this piece. I'm gonna test a few torches and try to pre wet some pieces to see if it actually helps prevent cupping and burning too fast.

Sounds like a good plan... the humidity you mentioned might help as well. It was a cold dry day when I worked on mine. Might help to have a bucket of water close .. just in case. I don't know if you are going to leave it screwed together but heating up the screws might make it wonky too .. thing to consider

Got the shape cut and ripped the shelving down to a proper width and cut them all to length. I mounted one on some scrap to test the load capacity... we'll see how that goes soon and I'll try some torching later.

HELL YEAH!! That's gonna be AWESOME!!

Looks like you got some clean wood too.. I think those knots add character but with just a couple it looks like they will be covered by bottles.

I hope so! I'm debating on taking a flap disk around the premier to do a rock face edge. I don't have a router to clean up the edges so the rock faced look may be cool. I'll test it out on scrap.

Any chance you have a Dremel or something? they make some edge bits too.. but either way.. the edges will clean themselves up a bit under the torch

Used a jigsaw with a scroll blade. Cut this pine up like butter... and also my table a little bit because I was anxious to get started and forgot to set the foam down at first

I couldn't find my small torch so I just picked up another at the hardware store. I'm trying to take a break during the heat of the day. I'm not ready for summer yet, but it's here dammit.

My 10" test shelf held up great to a 15 lb weight on it... that's like 4 bottles worth of weight in a space that will hold 3 bottles max. I used 4.5" screws every 2 inches and it seems solid with no angular deflection whatsoever. I did get some small L brackets just in case I have to add them to the larger shelves that will hold more weight.

Hot damn I forgot about my dremel. Might take forever but that'd get the job done. Good call!

Spent quite a bit of time establishing a base level line to plot all of the shelf locations from my CAD drawing. Then I drilled 52 holes and ripped a bevel on a 2×6 for French cleats. It's 35°... I'm worried I screwed that up and should increase the angle. What do y'all think?

    What benefit would increasing angle?
