Getting my new 2020 TRD Off Road tomorrow AM, saying Goodbye to my old Freind

My 1997 F150 4wd Lariat Flare Side Lariat with the Off Road Pkg I bought new back in '97 and I are parting ways tomorrow. Good friend. Garage queen for the last 10 years and in great shape, but the age is showing on everything but the drive train and the body.

Nothing fits in the garage with trucks nowdays, but the mid size, and have always been a Ford guy, but the turbos don't live long. Obviously I keep trucks for a while.

Picking up my 2020 Tacoma TRD Off Road tomorrow. I obviously don't buy trucks often.

But, as good as she is as has been, I know after 23 years, things are going to be a liability cost wise. Never had AC issues, or drive train. But Ford does not support many components that are critical to keep this girl going much longer.

Apprehensive about this, but tons of research and this forum has given me some confidence in the support of this Tacoma purchase.

Gentlemen and Ladies, have I done the right thing? The White Lariat 4WD warrior in the garage departs tomorrow.

 

I personally love my 2020 TRD Off Road. It’s the first vehicle I’ve had where I don’t have buyers remorse. Hope you enjoy yours as much as I have. Good luck, and have fun.

 

Welcome to the forum. I’ve never owned a full size truck before so I can’t comment on missing the old girl, but I can say that my 2017 Tacoma is the best pickup I’ve owned and she is number four, two other Toyota’s, a Nissan and a Dodge. Post up pictures when you get her.

 

The ford 2 valve v8's are legendary. I had a 2001 F150 2v and it was awesome. The 5.4 destroyed the reputation of F150 for many years.

You'll love the tacoma, and it will be nice to have a brand new vehicle again.

97 f150 and the new tacoma aren't that different in size.

 

How many miles do you have on your ford. You will love the new Tacoma.

 

Congratulations on the new truck and welcome to TW. I find the size of my 2020 Pro to be perfect at this point in my life...heading into my 2d retirement next month. Post some pictures when you get the new truck home!!

Are you getting a Pro or and OR? Title says Pro but you post says Off Road. Both are awesome!

As someone that's always owned older used cars until now, I find the reliability, utility and right sized nature of the Taco to be incredibly reassuring. It's smart and people really love these trucks for all of these reasons.

 

Two old classics here; a 1955 with all original parts and a 1996. Both are still going strong and I'm also loving my 2020 Tacoma.

You've made a good decision, don't sweat it. You'll love the new Tacoma. Too bad you can't keep both. I don't think I could part with my 24 year old Tacoma as it's like an old friend.

To edit title right about your first post, Thread Tools, Edit Title.

To upload a pic theres a few ways but the way I would to it is using the upload file option on as you post or when editing the post.

When editing theres a few more steps to get to it.



Find the save location and select the image you want to upload. Then the final step for either way is to add it to you post as a thumbnail or full image.

Congrats on the new truck man! I owned a '97 F150 years ago, between the piston slap and leaky oil pan gasket, I was glad to sell it! Bought my '20 Offroad last October and have been happy with it. If you plan on staying here long, this site has a tendency to make you spend a lot on mods. You've been warned!
