Most of my driving is in town and I don't like how the transmission shifts into higher gears at such low speeds then hesitates shifting back to a lower gear when you need to quickly change lanes or accelerate. This mod just changes the default setting of the ECT to on. You can still turn it on and off. I turn it off on the highway for better gas mileage.

I mean... that's exactly what I said... "You have to do it every time". Unless something's changed in 2020, there's no way to make standard cruise control the default when you turn on the truck and quick press the cruise button. You always have to hold it a few seconds.

Thanks, Ski, I will check on doing that out of curiosity. I DO like the PCS system, but I just dislike the Adaptive Cruise Control, and wish I could eliminate that completely, or at the very least, change the default on the push button so that classic cruise control is the default when just quickly pushing the cruise control button. But thanks for letting me know that one can completely turn off PCS system without having the PCS OFF light stay on. Much appreciated!

Yes. One of the first things I did or that chime would have drove me crazy at the boat ramp.

like the key in ignition or lights on reminder? There were some settings like that but I didn’t mess with them.

What is the procedure to permanently select TSS/PCS to off with no warning light and not have it reset when you turn the truck off/on? Was unable to do so on mine.

short and to the point: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JtXH5W3PRaI

use the steering wheel control on the tacoma to get to settings, and follow the prompts to turn off pcs, lds, tss. for cruise, hold the cruise button until the radar ready warning is off, and the cruise beacon on the dash lists the "normal cruise" beacon. Ski

I am familiar with this procedure however when my truck is turned off and then restarted the PCS is automatically turned on again.

must be something with the 18's. my 19 allows me to turn it off, no warning lights, no resetting after each key cycle. Ski

There is a setting in tech stream to remember the setting.

I have a 2019 Tacoma TRD port, and mine does not turn off permanently either. I tried it again yesterday, after Ski's comment, noting his is also a 2019, but nope, it does not stay off permanently for me either, and the dang PCS OFF light is lit too, as long as the PCS system is off. I like the PCS system as a safety thing for the most part, but I hate the adaptive cruise control. I am amazed that nobody out there has come up with a way to hack the entune system so one can alter the programming or customize it to fit one's own needs or desires. Russia, are you listening?

i think you guys are missing something. i cant remember where i found how to turn mine off permanently, i believe it was here on TW. i remember something about the steering wheel right side control, and the center button. there is no dash light and every thing is off. maybe read the manual to see if you can find it there.
