Bilstein 5100's with Eibach Pro springs

Got the front installed yesterday. Working on the rear today.

Wulf 1/4 spacer on both sides
Net me 2.5” lift.

Anyone have any feedback on how their trucks handle off road after the 5100's? I have a 2016 TRD OR.

I installed 5100s, but left the stock coils and leafs, no changes there. Also left them the shocks on the zero setting since I don't want a lift for my type of offroading. Small trails, low tree canopy overhang and such and I am in the bush rough offroad about 50 trips per year. Maybe 4,000-5,000 miles offroad per year.

I was hoping the 5100's would ease the pain on the very bad washboard roads on the logging roads in BC Canada. Did not work out, in fact even more harder on those roads now. Some of the roads I drive are 2,000 feet of steep elevation up mountains, and brutal washboard. Top speed about 15mph up those logging roads, and painful. Heading up to my fishing lakes. Fish all year round, each lake requires 4x4 and 4-lo to get to them.

For general offroading it is better. So driving into dips, over large humps in the road and such. Before the stock Bilsteins would just bottom out. Too soft, and bouncing up and down like a beach ball. Did not like that at all. Now it is much tighter, better corner control, no nose dive on braking now, etc. So driving on pavement is so much better with the 5100s. General offroad driving is better, but now is worse on the washboard roads. I am dropping my tires down to 25psi when I get offroad to compensate, but still does not make much difference. This is my 4th 4x4 in last 35 years. The 2 bigger Fords (86 and 94 years, F150, F250) were like driving a cadillac offroad compared to the Taco. Washboard roads barely noticeable As expected from a full size truck. But the result on washboard roads is a disappointment. Even my smaller 1994 Mazda B4000 which was all stock, never hammered on washboard roads like the Taco does before and after the 5100's.

Considering I have to drive these steep uphill mountain climbs all washboard 50 trips per year, a bit disappointing. The roads are so beat as logging trucks use them daily. Once you get to the top and past where logging crews work, and far deeper into the bush and into 4-lo, the 5100s work great there and a big improvement in that case over the stock Bilsteins.

Which place are you in BC?

 

Kelowna, but I fish all of the province for the last 40+ years. Lake fishing mostly. Small lakes. I don't fish where others do. If one other guy on the lake at peak fishing season, too much for me. Like the solitude, but have to really drive deep into mountains on roads no one else uses anymore. Do some river fishing too, and commercial fished for salmon and halibut on west coast of Vancouver Island and Haida Gwai for many years.

 

I don't have an answer to your question about the 5100s. You said you are airing down to 25, I suggest dropping that to 15 psi. That should help with the washboarding.
