Nah man, this started off as a pretty silly discussion about a 400HP low end torque beast versus a naturally aspirated V6 that makes roughly 60% of the power below 3500 RPMs... Oh and a new F150 now only weighs about 200 lbs more than a Tacoma so one fat kid in the backseat and you have an even weight class match so to speak.

I get the frustration though man. Comparing a Tacoma to a F150 doesn't really make sense from a strictly class based view. They aren't the same size physically. Price wise and weight wise though they are getting closer all the time.

EDIT: Oh and this thread came off topic about 50 posts ago. Now it's just a BS thread lol. I'm sure @smitty99 doesn't mind.

turbo waste gate opens very low on the rpm range producing that low end torque that is very surprising I drove the one in the mustang and it's fun

I really want to test out an eco Stang but all of them around me are autos, so waste of time!

I don't know about that. Ford seems to have done a better job on TCU programming than Toyota. I can understand wanting a manual for ownership, but the auto is decent, especially in sport mode.

I flew to CA with a group of friends and some of us (myself included) rented motorcycles, while the non-moto guys rented sporty cars. We spent 3 days beating the shit out of a 4cyl eco Mustang Auto riding Palomar, Angeles Crest etc etc. Stopped at the bottom of Palomar and the brakes were smoking and the body was covered in tire and brake dust. My buddy who had it was keeping up with a BMW 6 series in sport mode, and they were driving foot to the floor or hard on the brakes much of the time. Only on long straights where the BMW top end kicked in was there a large difference. The Ecoboost is a midrange engine and seemed pretty decent for everyday driving. Only at a track or somewhere where you can exercise the top end will you notice it.

We have that in one of our work trucks. Great motor and I get mid 20's mpg on long road trips.

I was seriously considering an F150 AC with the 5.0 but the used ones with fairly high (30-50K) miles were still more than a brand new Tacoma. Plus the one I test drove was bright bright red... no thanks. Of course the dealer calls me a few days after I bought my Tacoma about a truck I (had) wanted, exactly.

Plus my wife convinced me I didn't need a full size. I checked my ego and determined she was right. I'm a happy camper in my truck.

My uncle drives one of them. Says it will chirp the tires from 35mph if you slap pedal to the metal. Will have to Circle the wagons and see if this is true or not. Could be a fishing story, could also be real.

I'd like it if the Tacoma was turbo from the factory just so there could be threads about blow off valves.

I just got out of a 2.7l F150 and into 2020 tacoma. F150 had 66k miles on it and the plastic oil pan started leaking around the gasket for the second time... out of warranty of course. was quoted ~$1,000 to fix. I love that I made the switch -- will not beat a full size truck off the line but will fit down many more trails and run for many more years.
