Does anyone know what the dealer cost is on parts and accessories? Is there a standard percentage markup or does each individual part have a different market? The delivery/purchase date of my new truck is fast approaching. Part of the equation for my deal on my new OR DCSB truck is that I can get any accessories I want at dealer cost. Even before the shortage of new vehicles, in Southeast Toyota region there were very few with the LED headlights so the truck I have “ordered” has no LEDs whatsoever. The most significant accessory I will be ordering is the LED headlights. Does anyone know what dealer cost is on these parts? I just don’t want to walk in there blind and then they tell me oh our cost is $800 when I can get the headlight online for $667.

Just show them the prices you found online and have them match them if they say no, be prepared to walk. Pretty simple.

Good deal but was hoping that dealer cost would be better. Thinking maybe 60% of regular price?

No way. I get parts from my dealer parts guy at 35% off retail and that’s pretty close to cost. Having worked at a Toyota dealer which a lot of guys like to call stealerships, they actually don’t have as big a margin as you would think.

Can’t walk. Got a great deal hammered out. Assuming dealer cost would be better than anything online.

    This is correct.
I think the majority of you all would be surprised at:
-how little money is made on parts
-how much less is made on accessories
-how much it actually costs to operate one

Awesome!! 40-50% off retail is gonna be right at dealer cost FYI. It will depend on their purchase cost and probably closer to the 40%. If your getting them at 35-40 off retail I assure you you’re getting a great deal on oem parts.

Just a heads up, but you will need to convert the wiring, or buy an aftermarket harness to get the LED's to work in your truck. It is not a plug and play type of situation.

Thanks for confirming. Yeah, the 40% off aka 60% of original price was right around what I was thinking it would be.

Yep, good looking out. I’m on page 22 of 45 on that thread. I think the aftermarket harness is like $90 right?
    So $1324-40%=$794+$90=884
    Sound about right?

I had good luck with Camel Back Toyota for getting low cost OEM parts.

I think it was Parts Factory Camelback Toyota or something.

Hopefully you don't have to use aftermarket stuff on a brand New Truck.

I work at an auto shop that frequently orders from dealers and the dealers have customer price, auto shop list and cost price provided that you show a resale license/permit. I get 20-30% off the list price for auto shops. The customer price is always way overpriced compared to how much I order parts for.

Dealer cost is about $1150 for the pair of lights, or so my buddy says. You’re only going to get about 5% cheaper than the cheapest you can find online.

I dunno the cost. I cut and rewired in the molex connector myself. Like $20 from eBay or Amazon.

I mean, the truck comes prewired for a type of headlight, once you change the type, you're on your own.

accessories do not have as much mark up as hard parts. be prepared for price differences in discounts from hard parts to accys. also, some dealers work on volume and offer higher discounts so, it is wise to shop, and ask the question you did. someone will know of a specific dealer with the parts you want for the "best price", discounts, free shipping, no tax etc...
