Just like the title states, a local Ford dealer has a 2010 Taco for a crazy price. So crazy I had to screenshot and share here. Crazy.

If I were to try to sell my 09 right now (not that I would) I’d probably list it close to $16k so no, I don’t think it’s crazy. Do some research on KBB, NADA and search dealership inventory and you’ll see that for a 09-10 DCSB, it’s a relatively normal price. Last time I checked my truck (with 122k miles) trade in was around $15k and retail was over $17k.

How to make a 10-20 yr. old truck worth 15-20K?

Sell a new one for 40-50K.

It’s worth it, if it’s clean and low mileage.

If it's clean and well taken care of, there's still a lot of life left in it with only 136k miles.

This is exactly why I bought new. I wanted a 2nd gen truck but with the prices on every one I looked at it was so close to new that I figured I’d just buy new.

I got 24.5 for a 2013 sr5 with 80k on it. That was 2 years ago but clean, well taken care trucks bring a premium.

I sold my 13 Sport with 107k for $20k private within 3 days of posting online.
Dealerships always post a bit high but I'm missing the issue here.

When I was looking Used dealers were not budging on 2015 tacos at $26k to $28k. The several I was looking at were Off-Roads with 60k to 80 k miles.

I ended up getting a 2017 Off-Road with a bunch of upgrades for $29k from a Ford dealer.

The market is bad now, but the dealers aren't ready to deal yet. They must be happy to hold on to stock until the market recovers.

    None....yet.
I was just offered $20k for my '16 with 44,000 miles on it. I was not amused.

When I bought my 09 with 48,600 miles in 2014 the Honda dealer had it listed at $28,400 (for a six year old truck). I managed to talk them down to $24,500 plus tax and title. Doing some quick math that would mean I’d expect to pay around $24k-$25k for a 2014 model right now. Seems logical that a 2010 could still fetch $17k at a dealer.

Usually the best deals are if you can find one at a non Toyota dealer. They usually want them off the lot. That’s how I got my 2005, someone had traded it for a Silverado.

Oh yeah, that’s probably why the Honda dealer was willing to come down $4k off their asking price. Not that I was gonna pay asking price anyway. I could have bought a brand new one for not much more at the time.
