Last comment on the subject for me. More to acknowledge the Vietnam vets-

My uncle is a Vietnam vet and won’t talk about it with anyone but me. Having spoken with him and some other vets of that era in a few mixed PTSD groups, what’s sad is a lot of those guys haven’t even gotten to the point of dealing with the combat stuff. Many are still trying to deal with their reception when they got home.

I’ve spoken before about our mission set being counter IED for all of my tours. Spending at least 8 hours a day waiting to get hit. Taking responsibility for anyone hit at anytime in our sector. Probably from the way we took on IEDs in 03’. Buffalos and the Huskey wasn’t widely available or even understood at the time, so we drove routes to “take the hit” before the CLPs came through. That being said, I feel more of a kinship to Vietnam vets then any other generation. I won’t say an insurgency is any better or worse then other wars, they were all horrible. It’s just different. I always try to voice that kinship to the Vietnam guys whenever things go that direction. Peoples support is what has helped me get to where I am today and I think they lack a lot of that. Ours is the first generation to really openly accept and try to deal with PTSD. The others didn’t get that, so now a lot of the Vietnam guys are really getting their first opportunity to address their demons.

All that above is to say that I think that’s why I read the post and took it the way I did. Maybe not how it was intended, but certainly how it reads to me. We all catch the red flags when some fakes service, the non service guys don’t realize how obvious it is. So I tend to give the benefit of the doubt until things start to sound off.

    Anyways- carry on guys!

My Father in law did two tours In VN as a tunnel rat. He and I have never spoken about it directly. He participates in some VA group activities to deal with whatever he’s dealing with. He was also graced with agent orange as a result of service.

the guy that was quoted earlier just seemed like an uniformed ass to me.

Meh, remember I was telling you about that foreman of mine that had Marine shit all over his truck in our private thread? He was a marine as much as I was, a complete fucking retard.
IF that fucktard was a marine he was either in supply or he got booted 3 weeks into boot camp.

Anyhow, that’s how I read that. He’s just saying that suddenly it’s “fashionable” to be a Vietnam vet IMO.

I was at the F16 factory, So I've heard everything it can do. B1 on takeoff (same ramp) was 10x louder easily. my Harrier exposure was almost 20 years ago, but I remember the B1 louder

My bar is back open. A few years ago I bought a flag for each branch with an American flag to replace the bullshit one they had and gave them to the bar.
