It looks ok. Im not a fan of Royal Enfield. IMO they dont fit the US market. A friend of mine is the social media marketing person for RE.

They are a difficult fit, that's for sure. I think it's not the styling, as it is the lack of tech. Americans have come to believe we have to have the biggest, fastest, newest, shiniest penny. Our houses, cars, bikes have all gotten bigger and more ornate. RE just isnt that. They are slowly gaining in popularity in the States, and abroad as well. The Himalayan is doing well for them.

    waaaaaant!

I appreciate the lack of tech for sure. Just got an xt225 for the GF and have loved going back to a SIMPLE bike to work on. If i had a choice to go across the country / all over the world on one bike in the garage. XT225 would be at the top of that list.

They are cheap by comparison to a lot of bikes.

There's a Dutch woman who went from India to Denmark on a Himalayan. Then from Ushuaia to Alaska. COVID sidelined her in Peru I think, so she is back home waiting for this to end so she can continue.

Cool bike, I can appreciate their simplicity. The dealership around the corner from me recently started selling RE.

this obsession for tech is a global thing, not just an american problem...

the RE himalayan is a very cool bike

i think it is a tough market here stateside because the Japanese support that is here already, what does that bike offer that a klx650 or xr650l or dr650 or other low tech dual sport bikes do not...(aside from price)

there are a good amount of urals here around long island, would love to see a Himalayan in person i love bike diversity

Happy Memorial Day everybody! Get out for a scoot if you can!

I’m taking the opportunity to explore the city since there is hardly any traffic right now.

Aside from price, styling. And honestly I hesitate to compare to the KLR/KLX/CRF/DR/DRz/etc. It's over 400lbs with a whopping 24 hp, shorter suspension travel (which is pretty soft). It's more of a dirt road bike than trail.

It's always tough to get started in a new market. While RE has been here a while, they really started to push the last few years. Their quality has improved, and with the Himalayan they outsourced the frame and suspension design and engineering, which to me shows they recognize their weaknesses.
