Ya, that's the cable we use. If you are willing to wait, he's got a new cable in the works that he's mentioned before.

Final draft. Had printer running on a draft program so pretty rough but that will be cleaned up on the final abs version. Fit super tight. Two cut outs in the vent for running vacuum lines and wiring in either direction. 20200524_233950.jpg 20200524_234010.jpg

Looking good and appreciate you sharing the R&D progress. I may have missed it.. but did you mention the gauge housing diameter? If interested, there may be a simple way to accommodate other gauges of similar size that have different housing shapes (like a conical shaped hole for the gauge).

I'm hoping to find a reasonable performing gauge that matches the interior lighting/colors. Here's an interesting one from Amazon 2-1/16" diameter which appears to generally match our OEM gauge colors. The AEM looks like a quality boost gauge but being a color/aesthetic snob I just don't want to add the different 'look'.

    upload_2020-5-25_11-44-12.jpg

Although the aesthetics look good on this gauge I'm not a fan of the range (-25 to +30 psi) especially for those of us going with the base kit which will have a narrow range of movement. Precision may be unacceptable <shrug>.

I was hoping MESO's TacoPod solution was going to be available but from his recent statements in this thread it doesn't sound like they're happening in the near future.

Mount is going to house a standard 52mm round gauge. 2 1/16 inches for you Americans out there. This is the gauge i bought for my final build. Looks like it is also produced by glowshift which everybody seems to love.

Those are bottom of the line gauges. Be aware of that fact. They fit a price point, but it is definitely cost driven.

Cool. That one looks even better since it has the digital read out in addition to the analog needle sweep.

Just so you are aware the vent is still functional. It's not able to be moved or closed but it will still move air.

Could you incorporate a rotating shutter? I know it adds complexity, but the design couldn't be too difficult.

@KTJO 4x4 is doing a driver's side A pillar grab handle. I wonder if she could somehow incorporate a mount.

I was having that conversation with myself last night. It wouldn't be terribly hard but the vents would have to be significantly smaller to give enough area to cover the shutters when they are open and I think that would ultimately make the vent useless for airflow. The current design will offer the most airflow possible out of the vent while still being a sturdy mount.

Good point. The best you can do is 50% efficiency. Probably more like 40% after design. Maybe you could design a ring 'plug' that guys could keep in their center console and pop in there if they really wanted to shut off flow.

I really wanted a 52mm. Unfortunately there is just no good place in the Tacoma interior that accommodates it without sacrificing something else. (While still being readily visible to the driver)
