    ^^^ This.

Decide what bike type you want and Test-ride many bikes. Try at least 5 bikes minimum before starting to make decisions. Be conscious of, and try to keep the influence of Colors, brands, & marketing influence out of the decision. You'll develop a distinct preference in that process... When you find the right one you'll know.
This process has worked for me quite well. It is time consuming - but also fun!

Dude, Im still stoked on how good that WOW lap was. Easily my best ride ever on that trail.

And I did some thinking. We def lost more than 27 seconds crossing over those fallen trees.

Went for a ride with wifey. And while screwing around playing around I jumped into a blind rock garden, which led to this...
Looks like I’m off the bike for a few weeks. Broken hand and elbow.

Ouch! Heal fast bro. I've broken both wrists before and it takes a long time to physically heal that type of injury.

No bueno @abacall sending speedy recovery vibes your way bro.

Mounted up my tire/wheels to check for leaks pre-sealant since the wheelset is used. Rear seems to be holding air well. Front definitely has a leak at the valve stem. Debating whether I should just retape everything and put in new valves, or if the sealant will close everything up.

Any thoughts from those more experienced?

Pump it up to 40psi. Quickly flip the wheel (so the 12 o'clock is at the 6 o'clock). Do this a few times. It will allow the sealant to slosh around and get into wherever it's leaking on the tape/rim side. Some setups take a few rides to fully seal too.

This was a dry run. Just air and no sealant. Just was checking for leaks, which I found. My speculation is that the sealant, when added, will do its job.

Rode wheeler canyon up in Ogden today. Got chased off the summit loop by rain and hail which would have given us 1100 more feet and 6 more miles. Oh well. 2000 feet and 13 miles is still a respectable day.

I’m looking for advice or opinions on a RockyMount Backstage Swing Away rack. Much as I would like a 1 Up and Rakattach system, that would run to almost twice the outlay. We wouldn’t be hauling more than two bikes and not doing any serious off-roaring.

I’ve gotten a lot of entertainment from you folks here, although you’d laugh at my old school Stumpjumper. Then again, at 67 I’m a bit of a retro grouch, still riding Campy NR on the road. TIA.
