8 Gang Switch Panel - Auxbeam/Amazon

Thinking about trying one of these in the rear bed cubby for my rear accessories.

 

Happy with mine so far, been a few months.

 

Did you go with an independent momentary switch for the panel brightness? I am trying to figure out if I want to be able to adjust the brightness on mine.

Finally hooked up some lights to the switch! It works flawlessly. Love it.

All three sides are hooked up to 3 different switches so I can control the lighting zones. I still haven't put any stickers on the switch board yet. Waiting for the nicer weather to show up!

I put the 5A fuses in different locations. This won't harm anything but the 30A and 20A labels throw me off. I will probable put tape over the amperage writing to not confuse anyone.







I also upgraded my battery.

 

i know this is a little late but, so i know they are all prelabeleed with fuse 5a-30a. can you move those arounf and not worry? say i want them all to be 15a fuses or 30a etc can i just pop in a higher or lower fuse and be good to go?

 

I read that you can't do that, due to the rating on each wire in the control box.

 

I did... but I went down in size.
I din't see why you couldn't. It's simply a fuse holder. Nothing electronically programmed. Very similar to a Blue-sea fuse panel.

Interesting... although I would really doubt they used different gauge wires. There might be a couple that are bigger than the others but I would bet they are all pretty consistent in size otherwise.

IF there is varied sizes, I would just pull out a micrometer and size each wire. Considering the coating may not accurately show the true gauge, you can judge what amp they can handle based off the largest and smallest measurements and fuse size to those wires.

 

I put a smaller fuse in the larger placeholder. 2.5A in the 30A spot. That is safe.
But I wouldn't recommend doing the opposite lol

 

I built my own box and went with more traditional switches. Just speculating though, it just wouldn't seem feasible to use multiple sized wires unless it was a couple one offs to go up in size. That said, without measuring or confirming, its always better safe than sorry. I'd be interested in seeing someone open their box and spec it out though.

The good news is, most of the amp ratings shouldn't be that big of an issue if you're using led lights and light bars. If you map and plan out your lighting accordingly, the fuses should spec just fine.

 

I dont have any thing hooked up to it yet so can't tell you how it actually is. I paid $140 for it from Auxbeam because I didn't want to pay >$500 for a controller. I figure if it breaks after few years, I'll just buy another one and it will still be a cheaper option.

The thing that bothers me the most with this product is the breaker current rating. The breaker they provide is rated for 60A, but if you do the math [(30A*2)+(20A*2)+(10A*2)+(5A*2)] all the fuses combine exceed 60A. For now, I plan on just adding bunch lights to it so I probably won't exceed that 60A. I will also probably be changing the 30A's and 20A's fuses for lower amp fuses as a extra precaution so that they don't exceed total of 50~55A's.

 

So which one has the blue backlight and which one has the green?

 

Some companies sell them in both colours. You would have to read the description of them.
Found lots of green ones on Amazon. Green and Blue on Auxbeam.

I agree with you... even though I got green lol.
It was really my only option. When it's on the lowest brightness, the green is not very distracting.

I will try to swap the SMDs one day. I'll go amber to match the 2nd gen interior.
I already looked into it. Just need to change the 16 SMDs.

 

The green is nice. I'd prefer Amber but I got the kit for $50.

 

I installed my Auxbeam switch panel this weekend. I can't get the switch light to dim. I thought you touched the white wire to ground to dim. Am I wrong about this?
