Tinted your own windows?

Just curious how many have you tinted your own windows, and how would you say it was?

 

I did it many moons ago. Clean the glass 2 or 3x.
Put a few drops of soap in a spray bottle and fill it with water.
After you've measured and cut your piece, a piece of tape on both sides at a corner makes separating the tint and liner a breeze. As your pulling them apart, spray with the soapy water. It'll make life easier installing.
Smoothing it out on the glass takes a lil finesse, but once you get the feel for it, it'll go quick.

 

I paid someone else to do it. I prefer to keep my sanity (what’s left of it).

This is one of the only things I got a shop to do for me, other than wheel alignments and off rim tire changes. if you have the patience, I say go for it. I'd rather just pay a few hundred bucks to get all the windows done in 2-3 hours by a reputable place.

 

Window tint is something that I took to a shop for as well. I normally prefer to do work myself, but since it's something that I'll look at literally everyday and even the tiniest bubble or scratch would drive me crazy, I opted for a professional. I've heard too many horror stories of bubbled or purple tint from others that have done it themselves.

 

I did my own. Full truck with full windshield and the camper but I own and run a tint shop.

 

If you don’t know how to do it, I highly recommend just taking it to a shop. Save money and the headache!!!!!

 

I did my own but bought the precut stuff on Amazon or eBay. There are many videos on YouTube. It would be best if a professional did it, but if you have patience, you can do it.

Did the same thing. Came out great. It was very doable with a precut. As mentioned lots of videos to help.

 

I've thought about doing it myself, but since I would see it everyday, prefer having a professional do the job...lol

Same reason I would hire a "tile guy" to do that bathroom renovation job. I could do it, but don't want to see my mistakes over & over for years...lol

But if I ever tried to do window tinting, would definitely go with a "pre-cut" kit like that.

 

I've always done my own tint on my trucks. Unlike sedans with curved windows, tacomas are dead simple to do. There are tons of pre-cut pre shrunk purchase options. Buy the best quality film, be clean, and think each step through and it will turn out fine.

Some places even have an F-up guarantee, they'll send you replacement pieces cheap if you screw one up.
