So I guess my problem is that I want an all purpose vehicle to tackle those rocks and mud and sand and snow. Is that possible with a different suspension and armor. Or am I going to have to choose on what terrain I hurdle?

Na man that's easy as your rig can do all of those areas now with out after market parts. Tires will get you the height to clear obstacles and traction to go over them. The lift allows for more articulation of the direction and to fit bigger tires. Armor protects the trucks organs, gets you better approach angles, mounting points for even more recovery items and gives more courage to hit the harder stuff.

I've wheeled in CO, AZ, UT, WY, NC in all seasons of the year all on the standard old man emu lift and I'm still using it 3 years later

How are you liking the Icon stage 2 lift? Any issues? And - did you do the any type of carrier bearing drop?

Just bought the identical truck and you have the exact stance I want to go for.

Thanks in advance for any feedback - and good luck with your project!

Oh god this is so reminiscent of the project I’m still doing. Long story short a friend of mine discouraged me from doing this for whatever reason I listened even though my passion never left. Also, got engaged and had countless travels to other countries. However, here I am again the truck is getting now a Icon stage 8 and I am upgrading the tires to 285/70/R17 with that CMC . I’ll post upgraded pictures for you all. I’m again debating on the bumpers front and rear which I think will be next if not electrical. Victory 4X4 is definitely who I want to go through on the front and I’m loving the CBI Offroad High clearance for the rear. But I’m unsure if it’s better to order all Victory for possible discount. Any thoughts and sorry for the long time away?

Sounds like your first upgrade should be a locker (Probably both while you’re at it), since you don’t have one on the sport.

With the locker won’t I need the air compressor and won’t that need to run off the power supply that I’ll need to upgrade.... just asking ?

That depends. Air lockers are most common, but the air they need is minuscule. Even with bigger automotive air compressor there is absolutely no need for extra battery when using air compressor while the engine is running, or adding lights as stated earlier. If you are using more power than your alternator can supply, another battery really won’t help. Only need extra battery for camping, Ie running shit with engine off so you don’t drain your starter battery. or potentially using a winch at idle, since they are real power hogs but you only use them for short periods of time.

What’s your budget? You’re way past $10k already.

ARB seems to be the choice for Tacoma. as for gears, I personally wouldn’t go up any tire size without gears on the Tacoma since it has no low end torque, but that’s probably more a personal thing with your driving habits as plenty do go up tire sizes and seem happy without gears.

Lol that must be a joke .... the labor alone has been enough . With the fuel beast rims that I customized and tires and now Icon stage 8 with the labor we are definitely past the 10k mark and I did an after market exhaust just for the sound

Locking the front is not necessary unless you’re taking it to the extreme. If you get a lunchbox locker for the rear it’s automatic and doesn’t need air or electrical.

If you’re sticking with 33” tires or smaller you don’t even need the regear although the extra torque is nice, but is it $3000 nice? Not in my opinion.

If you do change gears would it still be viable to utilize the shift sense pro?

I think the SSP is obsolete since OVtune came out. SSP is spoofing the system and OVtune reprograms the system. I’m no expert but I would choose OVtune.

OVtune and a Powertrax lunchbox locker as well as sliders and a high clearance rear bumper would result in a fun to drive, lightweight, nearly unstoppable machine off road that is reliable and still gets good gas mileage.

That’s a good $4k to start. If you’re going to fully Armor the belly and get a front bumper and winch and upgrade to 35’s then you’re going down the rabbit hole of regearing.

Yeah eventually I am going to go full armor and front bumper as well so I’m thinking of regearing with a locker at the same time .... but after this suspension gotta save for a bit then next set of upgrades to make
