Do y’all think this would look badass. Thinking about getting it to go camping?

Found a free toolbox on craigslist. Was in decent shape but really dirty and a bit beat up. Cleaned it up, removed some rust and went about figuring out a way to mount it to the bed. Looks like the standard install is though the top of the bed rails. I know there are holes under the factory plastic but I did not want to cut into it. This tool box is temporary until I find a used canopy.

Google tells me superstrut nuts will fit in the bed rails. I didn't realize at the store, but the 3/8" nuts are a bit smaller than the 1/4" nuts.

The 1/4" nuts almost fit, but not right. Stock on left, after I cut it down on the right:

    20200525_165250.jpg

Used an angle grinder to shorten the nuts a bit.

    20200525_165128.jpg

After that I used this bracket to attach a bolt vertically.

I was planning on cutting the bolt going to the nut on the bed rail down, but I got distracted and didn't get to that today. All in all this was a very cheap way to mount something to the stock bed rail with parts you can buy at the hardware store. I love it.

I think the 3/8" nuts might fit without cutting. Odd they are shorter than the 1/4".

These work real well too for mounting these type tool boxes. Lot's less messing with it and probably cheaper. Add a fender washer and you are good to go.

I did. They are Avid offroad slider style steps. Great company. Great product. They make real sliders too. Seem to remember they have shorter wait times then the other guys. Out of Arizona if i remember correctly. Owner is a member here. Pulled the tonneau cover and floor mats too. All will be on the classifieds shortly.

Thanks tullie d. Yeah @CXYyuppie i loved the taco. But toyota didn't bring anything new to the table and didn't want to deal. Chevy was willing to deal. Got 15% off msrp on a zr2 colorado. Hate it though. The taco was going to be my last new truck.

I installed a Gibson exhaust. Exhaust hanger tool and a little silicon spray lube made the job real easy.

Put blacked out emblems on the sides and back. Also, found a place for some stickers under the DiamondBack cover. Experimented with some velcro under there to hold patches, machetes, etc.

15% off msrp. And free premium rubber floor mats. Not much else you can negotiate into a fully loaded ZR2. Interest rate is a little higher then i like. 3.9% for 72 months. could have gotten lower if i took less money off. But the rate doesn't bother me because i will have it paid off in 2 years. After being laid off for a year in the 2007 crash i Learnedto take the max financing on anything and pay it off like you would on a shorter term note. The interest doesn't kick in but your liability is much less should something happen. Example. My house is on a 30 year note but will be paid off in 23. Truck is a6 year note that will be paidin full in 2years. But if i get in a badway again my total exposure insurances and all is les then $1300 a month combined.

Watch those differed payment deals. Most of them ate still charging interest on the months you don't pay. Bottom line should alwaysbe % of msrp.
