Hoses are OEM, cheap insurance to replace them now instead of a blow out later.

I didn’t consider switching over to HPS, a hose is a hose and OEM has done great the last 100k miles. I’m sure HPS is Mor expensive too and may be a little more stiffer; idk lol I’m pleased with the replacement for now.

That's my logic as well with some parts. Sometimes OEM lasts a super long time so no point in upgrading. I'm still on my original clutch with 205k miles and (knock on wood) no sign of slowing down anytime soon. When it eventually needs replacing, OEM for me.

Been thinking about doing this for a long time. You last picture starts to answer my question; how to protect them and cargo when not in use, where did those covers come from? Also, are they taller than the bed 'ribs'. Link pls?

I don't have any official plans unfortunately. BUT, the steps of what I did and the supplies I needed:

    Supplies:
    - 2 2x8's for the main cross beams. Total length for each crossbeam needs to be 57" so however you can get to 114" worth of 2x8's
    - 2 4x8' plywood panels IF you want to do it the way I did and split the platform down the middle. I did this for each removal/storage for when i'm not using the platform.
    - 1 2x4 to help with the center support structure

    What I did:
    - I started with the cross beams first (the 2x8's). Basically cut them to 57" each, one from each board I bought. Then, you will realize the 2x8 is slightly to large to actually fit in the bed cutouts. I bought the 2x8 on purpose though so I could trim it down and have it fit super snuggly in the bed cut out. So from here it was basically a measure/cut, measure/cut, measure/cut until I got them to fit flush and snug inside the bed cutout. You have to notch 1" off the bottom ends of each cross beam to get it to sit flush with the bed 'shelf' and basically remove like an inch and a half depth from each end as well. I can take some pictures later to show what I mean.
    - Then I measured out the panels. I cut each panel into 57" by 73" strips to get the general shape. Then I have this tool where you push it against odd shaped surfaces and it will form to it, that's how I got the cut outs for the end of the bed area instead of trying to measure it all out with a ruler. But however you do it just get the panels to fit the bed.
    - I thought I would be done after this point, but realized i'd like more support in the center. I bet if I didn't use two panels I wouldn't but because I split the whole platform in two it needed a little more support in the middle between the two crossbeams. So, because I did not plan for this I just used existing materials I had left over (the remainder of the 2x8's and then a 2x4x8 I had laying around).
    - So the remainder of the 2x8's weren't long enough or tall enough to sit nicely under the cross beams. So I manually made the weird looking shaped 2x4 "inserts" you can see sitting above the center support 2x8's. Again, this was an on the fly thing I did since I didn't want to go back to the hardware store to get more wood. If I were to do it again I probably would've gotten a 2x10 long enough to make two pieces fit correctly.

If you want specific pictures of things I can get them for you.

Little bit of this and that
Mine sat in the garage this weekend while I took my boys camping. Too many of us to all fit in the Taco so we took the wife's Sienna instead.

Changed the plugs, belt, and oil.

Not quite as easy to access the plugs compared to an LS1, but I can't complain about a 30 minute job. For 30k plugs that I ran to 69k (I know I'm an awful person), they were in good condition still.

It does run noticeably smoother now though lol
