Couple pics from last couple days just finishing up formwork ~

I added a 2" conduit that will run inside under the slab to the tablesaw / outfeed table "island" .




This conduit will transition to EMT and sweep into the side of the panel so there will always be an upgrade path for any future electrical changes

Next up I needed to install the 2" styrofoam cast in slab edge insulation that will be poured into the foundation wall . Top of styrofoam represents top of slab / underside of wall framing so it also acts as pour height for wall and later will become screed for slab pour .

I hold the styro in place with plywood blocks that are drawn into rebates in the foam with screws driven through the form ply , through the styro and into the plywood sucking the styrofoam tight to the formwork .

I made a little jig to cut the 2"x2"x1/2" rebates in the foam and used my cordless router with a 1/2" top bearing bit , went pretty fast , I think it only took me about an hour to prep all the pieces for the entire building perimeter




Cast-in slab edge styro in place . I tape the top of the styro so little styrofoam marbles don't get all embedded in the foundation wall concrete but more importantly later when we use it as the slab screed that the power trowel doesn't pull styrofoam crumbs into the slab





Everything is buttoned up , tomorrow I need to hang my hold down bolts and secure some more pipework sweeps but other than that I'm ready for Wed pour

I was wondering what the blocks were for, makes total sense to use as basically a nailer to secure the foam to the formwork. I'm going to enjoy watch this.

 

I usually don't recess them into the styrofoam but with the offset from the foundation wall to framing wall line on this particular set up , the blocks narrowed the fin portion of the top of wall more that I liked and were too close to my rebar

Finished up the last details today


Hung my hold down anchor bolts , there are 9 hold down locations in the building , we're using Simpson 5/8" SSTB 24" bolts and HDU5 hold downs



Hold down bolts suspended at embed height





This wall has a water line and sweeps that will allow the hydronic piping to terminate in a manifold in the wall




All ready to pour



Pour is scheduled for 8:30 tomorrow

 

I saw the exterior profiles/elevation drawings. But where are the goddamn floor plans? The operational layout? The power? The mechanical?
