They came and put poison out, and set traps. My dad said they were "field snakes" What a "field snake" is, I have no idea.

We have snakes that like to get under the siding of the house when it is cold outside. My dog Sam (husky) loves to be outside in the cold and catches one at least once every other day and plays with it for hours. I can't catch her, so she just flings it in the air over and over. She is just so proud of herself that I just let her go.

At the farm, prior to snakes we had mice really bad. To the point where you would walk out of the kitchen and mice would start running around. They were all field mice, but my old dog Lotus (RIP) killed one in the kitchen. He was so proud, he kept running into the living room where I was watching TV and trying to get my attention. Finally he got me up and I checked things out. When I went to the kitchen, it was a dead mouse that he placed at my feet. He was so proud of that mouse.

Looks like we got everything we need. I'll also be bringing my gun/clay pigeons, so anyone else with a gun is welcome to bring it. down. THANKS EVERYONE for contributing!!!
This is was we need down the farm.

Haha, ya. All of my dogs, anytime they kill something (moles, rabbits, snakes, and squirrels mostly) they bring it back to us and place it at our feet. Aside from Sam though; she just plays with them and runs if we try and catch her. One of my dachshunds (Libby) brought in a mole once, without me knowing it, and jumped on the couch with it. She promptly left it after being interested in something else, and I accidentally sat on it. Of course I didn't realize what happened at the time, so I yelped ! She came flying in and started barking and snatched it back up and ran back outside with it. Mole guts... ew

haha my dogs are too dumb to catch anything. Both of them will chase a squirrel up a tree but go to the next tree and look up it when the thing is still in the other tree.
my cat (that is now gone) caught a rabbit, snakes, moles, and a few other creatures when she was young.... wth.. dumb dogs. haha i still love them to death though.

Most likely a black snake. Not poisonous but can get huge off of mice and rats! Most common snake around here.

Yeah the one I saw in the basement about a year ago was about 4 ft long, scared the shit out of me. We have a huge black fake rubber snake that my dad was talking about putting out at the farm somewhere to scare people. So when I went into the basement to put the clay pigeon thrower back I saw it. I thought, my dad tried to get me but I know its fake. When I got about 2 ft. away, it moved. I about crapped my pants. I threw the thrower at it, fell backwards, got up and ran upstairs.

I've stayed down there almost every weekend for the last few months and haven't seen a single snake. You guys dont have to worry about finding any snakes if you stay there.

Thats good stuff right there! I pulled into our driveway a few years back and there was a black snake wrapped around our garbage can. I too thought it was fake and proceeded to get out of the car. When it took off and slithered into the driveway wall I about pissed myself. They can get big!
