This poll needs to be updated with at least one option "Better looks without but I still keep them".
To make things statistically valid we also need a "Better with them put too poor to add" option.

i made some out of rubber. we ripped the stock ones off not long after we bought it. the front 2 went first, probably just from driving around the fields, and the rear 2 got ripped off backing through a ditch. imo, the stock flaps worked well, until you actually went off road. way too fragile, they were all missing in a few months. rubber works much better.

    Without the flaps.

Mud flaps look great on the 1st gens, I can't explain why they just do.

I don’t think they look too bad. I mainly refuse to take them off to protect the truck.

I personally like the look of mud flaps, that said im not a huge fan of how the stock toyota ones look. I have kept mine on as they give me a good gauge for how much clearance i have when off-roading. I'll keep them on 'til I rip them off then replace them with some polyurethane ones like the RekGens or RallyArmors

I removed the OEM ones when I upgraded my wheels and tires but our roads are such shit in this city I decided to get some Rekgens. They've helped with city road gravel and off road as well. It wasn't so much about looks but wanting to get something that didn't rub like OEM and keep my truck from getting sand blasted from daily driving and off road. I am not a huge fan of the predator steps but for now they are functional and help my Mom and wife get into my truck. Next up will be sliders but I still need to retain some functional step of some sort for the short people.

I put Rekgens on mine this spring primarily to protect my trailered boat on long gravel roads. They look appropriate on an off-road truck, IMO.

My off-road did not have them. It is amazing the mud and dirt that would be plastered on the side of the truck. If mud if flung up there... it’s obvious rocks could be as well.
I quickly got rek gens and like the look and functionality.

I put Weathertechs on mine. Seem to keep most of the crap out from under the tail lights and rockers.

I run aftermarket RekGens. I wanted to save my paint but also save other people's windshields. Colorado county roads can be brutal. They are super flexible, adjustable, and slimmer profile than OEM for larger tire fitment. Look nicer than OEM in my opinion.

I've got RekGens too and would recommend. I actually ripped one off in reverse while offroading and was able to get it back on with no issues. They are flexible and also offer more coverage than the OEM flaps.

When considering the look without mudflaps you have to consider the damage from gravel too

I also appreciate that they offer enough coverage for offset wheels and tires. If you have tires stanced to your fender, you're still covered with the RekGens.

My opinion is the truck looks better without but the practical side of me needs them. Are those 11" wide or 12?

    Edit: Sorry asking ContourEclipse

Mine are the Stock option (11"). These do adjust to about 1/2-3/4 of an inch outside of the fenders if you want. I have them maxed out for outside adjustment.

I like the look without them for sure. But for now I’m running some rokblokz for added protection. They’ve held up to some slow rock crawling as well.

Same here. Bought for functionality same as with my black side steps, but honestly think they also add a little to the looks of my plain Jane SR access cab long bed.
