it's going to be busy this weekend - as this is the Memorial Day weekend - it's traditionally super-busy out on the water; might even be worse this year since some areas are opening up. I heard Berryessa should get alot of traffic for the trout guys and the bass guys...

    Some really cool shit
I spent every Wednesday afternoon on Putah Creek one summer, when I was just learning. That was back in 2000. It's got big rainbows in there. Or, at least it used to. From the dam down to Lake Solano. And you can float tube Lake Solano. The whole stretch is a bit funky. Nymphing mostly. It's not pretty and you'll run across a lot of garbage on the side of the road, and trails. I worked with the Davis Fly Fishing Club to pick up garbage one day. Don't know if they still do that, but it was a worthwhile event. Met a guy who became a friend and fly fishing mentor for a couple years.

I only went to Putah during the week to avoid the crowds.

Pretty crazy how quickly those rose in price. Late last year they were regularly on sale for under $50. I see even the two-man intex kayak I started with is now $150 without being on sale. A $50 jump since late last year.

Got out yesterday and today. Was jigging Sunfish off of beds.

So I stream my fishing sometimes on Twitch just for the hell of it if anyone wants to tune in.

    Here's a clip from today: https://clips.twitch.tv/ScaryCuteSaladAMPEnergy

I can’t get over how fat those sunfish are. Those are heavier than lots of bass I catch. Lol

    stuff
Just got back from throwin some swim baits. Tried a few spots, but tons of seaweed and visibility was only about a foot. Just about to leave I got a huge ray on a lightweight reel. 20 minute battle royal ensued. He got into pilings, I worked him back out and got close enough to confirm 20-30lb ray. Reel crank was about to break lol. He got into some rocks and broke me off . Was still a damn good time

Best part though there was a ~7yr old kid about to get on a paddleboard with his Dad. He got too scared because of sting rays

Sam and I hit Lake Berryessa yesterday. Around 12 in the boat with a ton of bites and a few more lost ones. Perfect day on the water.

Then that fish that Fernando’d me and jumped and said “I won’t” and spit the bait. Was cool to watch though.

Only worry about Yorty Creek opening and then fish your way over to Cherry Creek arm.

Yup that is literally the only ramp I want opened. Lol. Still can’t get over how well I did there in the few times I went before lockdown. Incredible fishery.
