@Tacoma Mike i am getting ready to buy a used 2TR-FE motor for my taco and im trying to figure out if the motor has a vin # on the block or something that i can use to verify the motor they give me is actually out of the truck they say it is? I have never bought a motor like this before so i'm trying to be cautious as they aren't cheap. Any help would be greatly appreciated

They don’t do matching numbers.
Serial number I think is drivers side by the motor mount.

Back in the day they used to rivet a vin plate to the block. Not sure if they do that anymore though

Aww shoot, alright i poked around a little buti couldnt find it, i guess the exhaust manifold might be in the way or maybe im just missing it

Passed.

Will probably need new front brake pads soon....at 130K miles I'm guessing. That will put 65K miles on them (only my 2nd set). Got 65K miles out of originals.

I'm consistent.

And had frame inspected again...passed. Scheduled the frame treatment for later in June.
