The only thing that would be "necessary " other than what you have in a carrier bearing drop. Since you have the dclb, shims won't really be necessary with the carrier bearing drop to even out your driveline angles. New bump stops and a ubolt flip kit are extras that aren't necessary. Think of it like a sculpture. You have carved something great, the last piece is the CBD. Everything else is just very fine sanding. Also, make sure you also have a new axle seal for the ecgs bearing swap out.

This is perfect for what you need. OME is industry standard. There are cheaper ones out there, but you will never have to worry about this one.

6112/5160 SPC UCAs, and Headstrong AAL. I currently have everything but the AAL which arrives tomorrow. I’ll take a peek in there and see if it’s included. Any insight @HeadStrong Off-Road?

 

@Big_Salad oh, I see you got the 3 leaf AAL. The package with the full Dakar leaf springs comes with one but not the AAL. You may not need it but it would be good to have it just in case. It is stupidly simple to install and takes about 5 minutes if you do need it after you put in the AAL just in case of driveline vibration.

Make sure you check with a couple of guys in your area of a place that knows how to do an alignment with the SPC uppers. It is not rocket science but tire and alignment shops like to play stupid.

 

Yeah when I bought these I dedicated myself to understanding the ins and outs of these so I could know what I'm talking about and asking when it comes to alignment. Great advice though. Alllllmost bailed on SPC due to the adjustability, but decided knowledge is power. These things are extremely well built and will serve me well regardless of the future of my tire and suspension choices.

 

Concerning the ECGS bushing replacement, some guys say it's absolutely essential and others say it's an unnecessary waste of time and money that people only do because they're just looking for something to 'fix' on their truck. I'm a "if it ain't broke don't fix it" type of guy. I only do upgrades that have evidence backing up all the claims being made, but the data is mixed on this one. So what of the ECGS bushing replacement...absolutely necessary or utterly pointless or dependent on your setup?

 

I got the ECGS bushing, and plan on replacing it for the simple reason that I would lose my shit if I just spent $2000 on suspension to realize that a $60 part is affecting my enjoyment of it.

 

After I lifted my truck I had a vibration caused by the needle bearing. Toyota did the ECGS bushing and it fixed it.
For me this was 100% neccessary.

 

Alright, I guess I'll add that into the mix. This project just keeps getting more expensive.

I will just add that my 2020 DCLB OR has vibrated (quite badly) from the day I bought it, as do most Tacomas, so I highly doubt that replacing this part will solve that issue for me or for most Tacoma owners. There are other known issues with the design of these trucks that cause vibrations.

 

6112(5th notch)/5160, JBA UCA’s, HS 3leaf add a leaf. Never measured but it rides great.

 

a competent shop shouldn't have an issue knocking this out in 4 hours, more than likely they will quote you higher.

When I did the 3" front, 2" rear level lift it was suppose to cost around $300. I forgot to mention an alignment which was another $100. Then after installing the lift I took it for a test drive and had the vibration which costed another $500. Not to mention they messed my alignment up and tried to align it 3 different times and still couldn't get it right. Then as soon as the lift was done I did some gravel road driving which destroyed my street tires which lead me to spend another $700. So needless to say, when I want to spend a specific amount, I plan for double just incase something comes up.

 

That’s how mods go sometimes. Need to find a mechanic you can trust and a mechanic knowledgeable on offroad based mods
