Alright guys I think I’m gonna pull the trigger because I don’t want to go back and forth and eventually spend more money in the long run. Since I’m gonna go ahead and put on tires I might as well put on 35’s and regear with 5.29. Now on reading others spindle gussets should be included and of course a CMC that is prolly gonna be epic . My other question is will I need spacers with my current load out of a backspace of 4.5 and the icon stage 8 ????

The bigger question is do you really want to waste all that money on Icons.

4.5 backspace will be tight, might need spacers.

Better add a good angle grinder and dremel to your parts list.

I also strongly recommend the alpine design cab mount relocation kit. If youre going 35s, dont even mess around with a CMC, just relocate the whole thing!

Agreed, put that money into Kings and relocate that cab mount. You’ll probably need either different wheels or spacers. I would regear before installing the new tires and get through the break in. I’ve always been told it puts less stress on the gears during the break in but I don’t know if it actually does anything.

So my problem is I was trying to do all this in go and didn’t want to have to go back and forth. I’m constantly on the road and leaving my truck behind wasn’t really an option. Any idea on spacers I would need . New wheels would set me back way too far . Also Icon is already purchased so I’m not changing that one.

You can’t return the Icon for something else? They don’t have the best rep except for leaf packs

Icons are worse than a spacer lift bro... return it ASAP.

I only have 30k trouble free miles on my icons so far!

They are still new, hopefully we don’t see you here later complaining about leaks and leaks in your replacements like so many on this forum.

agreed, hope not. I’m too far in now to make a switch, and I’m carrying enough weight that they’re not stiff.

Ran icons for the last 2 years, driver side leaking like a mofo....bought kings replace Them....bigger issue for me is no one locally rebuilds icons, so I’d be on jack stands for a month waiting for a rebuild.

but you’re on the right path.....do it how you want it the first time

Im not sure anyone will have definitive answers as to exactly what you need. But if you’re going to run 35s, be prepared to experiment and cut. I have had my suspension on and off many times in my driveway trying to best set it up.

    Have fun with it! :muscleflexing:

Hmm I’ve had icon stage 2 for years with no issues . I didn’t know they had such a problem . Anyhow I just got off the phone with the guy . Gonna try 35’s with a CM relocate and I’m gonna regear 5.29 with a ARB lock in the back at the same time. Eventually I’m gonna weigh down the truck a bit with armor so preparing for that endeavor ahead of time. What has Icon said about their leak problems? Pretty much changing my truck and blowing a fuck ton of money lol.

Given their customer service reputation, probably nothing. Icon is all about marketing and sales so they probably don’t care.

im going to regret getting into this, but..... icons are good stuff. kings are nice also. if you read what accutune says about fox they are better then kings in alot of ways. i have a great relation with icon and i run them when ever possible including my truck. kings are nice but they are terrible on the side of selling the product. they are hella over priced and dont help out shops that install and buy.

this is the classic ford vs chevy vs dodge debate. Icon is the only company that does complete setups and tunes accordingly. you cant buy springs, uca and shocks from fox or king. they only make shocks that are off the shelf tuned for a wide variety of applications some times. icon tunes each kit for their parts and are vehicle specific.

I know 1 person that likes his icons. I know 8 people that regret ever purchasing them. Pedo owner, no customer service, priced at the level of FAR better options. Don’t know why people still buy them honestly.

Accutune can totally tune anything for your style of driving. There’s a reason why they don’t support Icon.
Also no reason to stick with the same brand UCAs.

To be fair, the guy that owned Donahue shocks was a pedo and put in jail. They got bought out and turned into Icon after that.
