    Hey y'all

I bought my Tacoma about two months ago and I've been lurking here for a while. I've been in Austin for a couple of years now and wanted to introduce myself to y'all.

Here's my Tacoma, I recently added the TRD sport/or grille on my SR5.

HAH Welcome to the Austin thread! Feel free to lurk, ask questions, start your own build thread, who knows the possibilities are endless  There are a bunch of TX based threads like the TTC thread here: https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/ttc-☆-official.541185/page-6076#post-23223335

And the Texas Classifieds thread here: https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/texas-classifieds-2-0-read-post-1.620549/page-319#post-23449580

But be careful and have 50+ messages in order to post a for sale listing. Enjoy!

Curious how everyone in the area deals with this. I’m a pro with the snow, ice, and other Minnesota conditions... no clue how to manage baseballs of ice falling from the skies. What is the best approach for those who have a park-outside vehicle?

Don’t mean to come off like an ass, good insurance or park under something.

Smart, I’ve changed my perspective about possible hail damage my truck already has a few dings and plenty of scratches. If I was to get some sort of compensation it’s going for mechanical repairs or mods.:burp:

Here is some useful info for you. Check into how USAA handles glass replacement here in Texas. As I learned a couple of months ago, when I replaced the windshield in my Tundy, coverage varies by state, as it's driven by government, not the particular company. Minnesota is among the best, if not the best, and Texas ranks on the other end. A buddy of mine runs a windshield replacement company in Austin, (the MN version), and he told me he can't remember the last time he had a replacement where he collected a deductible. Glass replacement is included in most policies there, at no "additional" charge. I put the quote marks there because it's most assuredly baked in. Here in Texas, it's basically the opposite. When the windshield in my Tundra cracked, I learned that Progressive would only pay for the amount over my $500 deductible, and only for non OEM glass. That would have been $79, so I closed my claim with no payout. And trust me, I talked to quite a few insurers during that time, (including USAA), thinking I would pull all my business, and move to a company that didn't hose their customers on glass. I learned a lot during that time, and am passing it along. USAA offers glass coverage, but at an additional charge, so you'll just have to run the numbers to see if it makes sense to buy it. It didn't for me, with Progressive, based on the miles I drive every year, and the fact I have a great glass guy that didn't f me on the price.
