What Have You Done To Your 2nd Gen Tacoma Today?

how did I miss this. I like that high flow rate notion. I JUST went with the 103SX, thinking it's the latest and greatest. Not the biggest deal since the slower rate adds a few minutes to something you do maybe 3 - 4 times a year?

 

What Marmot model is that? I have been looking at a few on the REI sale.

 

Its the Limelight 3 person. I have loved it so far. Great features and loads of space in there.

 

Yeah not a deal breaker but nice to have.

 

This valve model is the

$37 F103S LC-10 Lever Clip FS-Series Engine Oil Drain Valve, 1 Pack

F103S. It definitely looks like it’s hanging down far, especially compared to the stock drain plug. I’m not too worried about it right now because I’m in Germany and they don’t allow off-roading. The closest thing I can get is driving on forest roads to my hunting area. When I get back to the states I will have to re-evaluate.

 

Yeah no idea, I guess it depends on how good your welds are also.

 

Quality front skid plate will solve that problem. Most are cut for oil change access anyway. I wouldn't go offroading with the exposed Fumoto valve.

 

The SX is the 90° one isn't it? Spins 360?

 

Also wondering if anyone has, or has opinions on, this system:

Looks like it has a "backup" cap, and you have to put the little drain tool in to start the draining process.

 

Can you provide me the link to the size Grid-It you got? I ordered one off Amazon but it doesn't cover the full lid of the armrest. And if you could point me in the right direction of whatever tip you found to work best on the dremel?

Good luck dude, I think it would work unless that emblem is a different size on the early 2nd gens. I've seen a lot of these and this one actually looks professionally made.

 

Well blew a fuse on my smittybilt winch in the controller box. So had to remove the winch to be able to get to it. Then could not find a small enough fuse to fit in the housing. So cut it out and replaced with a proper easily replaceable fuse that matches the rest of the truck.

 

I live in the south and run my fog lights all the time. Would you still recommend the Pro's or the Sport fog lights?

You have to carve out or Dremel two cutouts for the hinges to clear. I also had to trim about a 1/4 off the bottom of the grid in order to get it to fit inside the armrest cover.

I first sliced through and trimmed back the cloth seam along the bottom edge of the grid to expose the plastic "base." Be careful not to cut the stitching otherwise everything, including the elastic bands, gets unraveled. The cloth seam is some sort of rayon or other synthetic fiber that immediately starts fraying so i used a butane lighter to burn off and seal the edges. Be careful not to set the whole thing on fire or to burn the stitching that holds the elastic bands in place.

Once I had the plastic "base" exposed, I used a steel cutting bit shaped like a Christmas tree to remove small sections until I got it to fit and the cover to close. One final once-over with the butane lighter to seal the edges and i was ready to Velcro it into place.

Take the time to remove the inside section of the armrest cover (only 5 screws) since that will make it much easier to work on.

My armrest (2007 taco) flips up and then stays up while I dig through whatever I'm looking for. The Grid adds some weight to the armrest and if you try to add too much other stuff to it, it will become too heavy to stay open when you flip it open. That's my only gripe so far.

Take your time and I doubt you'll have any problems.

You have a link to the plugs? And did you have to color match them? Looks slick.

 

They both are literally the best in the market right now. Even the sports beat out the competition. If moneys no object than ya. Buy the pros, if not the sports are still spectacular

 

Just put the 12+ wheel in. I Love mine compared to the old wheel...

 

Just picked up new upper control arms Probably an install next week
