I think I might have ordered the wrong part for this mod. I have a 2013 DCSB 2nd gen. Taco.

I ordered part # 90414-51026 (union) and the 90930-03136 (breather plug).

The breather plug appears to be correct, but the union is smaller than original and smaller than the one I see in some of the mod writes ups, and does not fit tightly in the hose I got from Autozone, which is 5/8" OD (3/8" ID).

I think I need part # 90404-51319 (union) for proper tight fit, correct? The 90414-51026 (union) does not fit tightly unless I insert the hose allllll the way down to the nut and then secure with a hose clamp, the nipple is not fitting tightly inside the hose, and this makes me worry it will not hold up well over time. See pic for part comparison.

Is # 90404-51319 (union) the correct way to go? or will it be ok to throw a couple extra hose clamps on 90414-51026 (union) to try and make it work?

    Thanks Tacoma friends!

Why don't you just buy the whole kit from @state48overland. The kit comes with rear and and front diff breathers, and all hoses to do it yourself, for like $30 something bucks.

Do I have to turn in my man card if I order a pre-made kit ? :p I went ahead and ordered 90404-51319 just to be safe, and I will post a follow up here for anyone else who might run into the same mistake in the future once I have everything installed.

I used the part # from this link
    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/rear-diff-vent-behind-the-tail-light-mod.286097/

Now, I can’t say for sure if they are the correct part #’s.
I never got around to it, and now I have no idea where the parts are.
Yeah, let’s not talk about man cards. Lol. I don’t know when it seen that card last.
Hopefully I didn’t loose it too?

Also for anyone else in the future.
This guy has ready made kits.

to be fair, it costs about $15 to buy the parts yourself

Fair enough. I figured I’d support a dealer here in the process as well.

I am quite confident now that 90414-51026 is the wrong part for this job. It might work if you secure the hose all the way down on the nut, but the fit is too loose and there is risk of the union becoming pulled apart from the hose when the rear suspension moves and flexes over time. 90404-51319 ordered and on the way, I will post a follow up to verify good fit once I have it.

Sounds like you need a different inner diameter hose.. As long as the threads are correct and match the axle housing, there isnt really a 'right' or 'wrong' as long as you have the right ID. I used 1/4" ID

Also, make sure its long enough for full travel. No amount of hose clamps will stop it from popping off or breaking if its too short

The 5/8" OD (3/8" ID) hose I got is a perfect fit for the breather plug that I will relocate higher up either at the gas cap or bed storage box. So I know the hose is good, and I got 10ft of it so I can be sure there is enough slack for suspension flex. Now I just need the correct camry union at the diff to match the hose size.
