    :angrygirl: I don’t want to think about heat transfer. Hardest f*fking class I’ve had so far, but squeaked out an A none the less. A whiskey infused deep engineering thought on the topic for coolant temps regarding both the radiator and intercooler goes as follows.

    Forced convection, ie the truck is moving should provide awesome heat transfer properties and be magnitudes greater than the natural convection trapped by skids.

    And an engineering intuition for when at slow speeds or stopped, (without measuring radiators and looking up heat transfer rates) I’d think natural convection, ie no airflow (heat rising) would be comparable to heat into the system from the engine so long as it can escape (upward).

    I’m drunk so wha do I know and what am I talking to you about again?

    edit: what I’m saying is don’t worry about skid plates. Worry about keeping The truck moving and if not, worry about vertical heat escape routes

    passenger side one is just inboard of my new air filter location. This mornings drive into work had IAT’s about 10-15* above ambient depending on my speed which is better than the 25-30* before them in similar temps. This afternoon will be a better test as it should be in the mid 80’s

    Pulling off that gasket will allow hit engine air into the intake of the AC box. If you care.
    Also, maybe pull off the two rear splash shields in the wheel well. As your moving that would give an area for air to escape. But keep the one in the front next to the alternator. Be a good experiment for you at least.

    You know I really wish they made a vented hood scoop for the 2012-2015 Sport models.

    I believe T Rex grilles makes something for the Sport models but I don't know what is comprised in making it work or if it even opens up the scoop at all.

    Those stupid splash shields tear on me because they are rubber and they suck.

    Also I have ran my truck without a cowl seal for years.. it never affected AC performance, especially if using circulation mode which is what I wind up doing anyways.

    So the speedhut gauges are installed correctly.

    The afr gauge requires 13.7 volts to start its warm up cycle.

    Mine has been working on cold start but on a warm start will not respond. I only have 13.4v on warm start.

    I'm not arguing, but I don't remember seeing/reading that anywhere. Is that a gauge or the sensor requirement? Which model gauge and sensor are you using?

    I have been working with speedhut support and this is what we came up with.

    I’m using there GR1-236 stand alone afr gauge.

    Options
    1. They can reprogram the gauge to start the warm up at Cycle a a lower temp.

    2. Do the voltage booster mod

    Interesting. Gotta wonder why that's not a published requirement? If you go the voltage booster route and you're running a "normal" wet-cell battery, be careful you don't boost too high for it.

    FWIW, I'm running their GL1-265 standalone AFR, which comes with the same sensor and I assume has similar "programming."

    It's a lot of money for the underhood heat extraction that I would like to accomplish.

    By the time it's all said and done I am in easily $1600 just for a painted hood assuming a paint shop charges me $500 just to paint it. Then I'd have to put in new aerocatch latches for my setup and then you have potential alignment issues.

    It's not worth it. I'd rather get a good scoop which is purpose built wide open similar to the hood scoops of my old GTO which had plugs you could remove to make the hood scoops "functional."

    I left them open purely for heat extraction purposes.

    It's either that or louvers but I'd rather make that my last resort.
