Castaic on the lower lagoon. Look at some of the local parks that have lakes, like mile square park has 2 of them. Yorba Linda has one also and many more I haven't mentioned, there is always bass, they stock with trout in the winter and catfish in the summer.

I'd like to fish Castaic with one of those foot long trout swimbaits! Not sure I could get use to clear water though.

 

I may need to drive out to Castaic!

 

The 5500's are a little too big for everyday use, I rarely use them. But like you said, good for catfish, stripers...anything with a large, live bait.

 

There's allegedly 20+ pound largemouth in there. You may catch a world record!
