I hate how on TW everyone has to vouch and apologize for having to search an entire forum with years and years of information piled on for an answer and get roasted when they don't. "use the search, idiot". This thread alone has 157 pages and no one new is going to read through this entire shit that would take hours, when repeated question can be answered by multiple people in almost an instant. Can't wait for this roast.

@1tondriver I just put on 255/85/16 Toyo MTs on my TRD Pro and it rubs on the front mudflaps when making a leveled turn. I do have a front bumper and winch so the front is a little bit lower than a stock TRD Pro. I took the mudflaps off, they still rub along the back fender when taking a turn quickly with any type of actuation in the wheel. Otherwise, no rubbing. I hope that gives you some insight on your TRD OR.

Thanks brother, I appreciate it . At least you have taken one option out of the equation for me. I have read so many long azz threads regarding this it just makes my head spin. Again, thank you

You're welcome. TW is full of good information, but it's too overwhelming to read the entire forum for an answer because you just keep reading nonstop and you end up without an answer anyway. Good luck with your selection.

How is it going with these? I have run them in the past. I am going to run these as a second set for off road! Just ordered and heading to Moab next week! Curious about your mileage?

@ChrisSandstorm so far so good. MPG’s have been hovering around 18mpg in town. I just did my first summer work trip that’s roughly 275 miles of highway driving round trip and I got 20mpg, calculated.

Are you many of you 255/85/16 guys doing gear swaps as well?

I'm worried about switching to skinnies and feeling sluggish... and then rubbing. I want to avoid the rabbithole of gear swaps and needing to do a CMC, lose my Revtek mud flaps and trim more plastic.

I ordered 16" Fifteen52 Analog HD wheels (0 offset) and need to make up my mind what tires to get. I have a 2.5-3" lift with a stage 2 Ironman Foam Cell Pro kit with their UCAs. Still on stock 265/70/16 Wrangler AT which have been great so far.

Looks like my 255/85 options in 16" are Cooper ST Max and BFG KM3and a few others.

I'm on 255/80R17(same diameter, just on a 17" rim) with a stock suspension. And have an appointment to regear to 5.29. Also no CMC is required for the 255width 33's.

Thanks. No CMC is one less thing to deal with. Any relocation needed for the spare on a 3rd ten?

I don't have a 33" spare, but I did relocate my spare to accommodate one(don't know how necessary that is yet)

Nope, it’ll fit. I’ve got 255/85/16 coopers and my spare fit right under the truck

    Hmm . . . none as yet, that's why i'm here . . .
So on my 2008 2nd gen taco, if i put 255 75 17 on 4runner wheels should I be thinking of having to re-gear? Thanks.

Generally not for 33” tires. Can’t speak for the AT specifically but you should try the tires first and see if you can live with the change in transmission response.

35” tires and you’d want to think about regearing to 5.29s

I have them on my 15... no need to regear, although rubbing w runner wheels will be more prominent than w the stock taco wheels. They look dope tho, so I'd say do it

    Just got mine installed today...

    Falken Wildpeak A/T 3W, 255/80/17.

They fit with no issues including the spare once I helped the kid line it up correctly. 1.5" lift and no rubbing on max turns. We'll see how the trails are soon enough.

My brother bought a 2020 Jeep Gladiator and immediately installed a lift, along with a new set of tires/wheels. When I was at his house checking out the transformation of his Jeep, he asked if I wanted the stock Bridgestone 245/75/17s he took off. I took him up on the offer and got them mounted along with my new T4R wheels a couple days ago. I've always liked the look of a more narrow tire and was planning on going that route once my stock 265/65 Firestones wore out. It was nice to be able to do it sooner, rather than later!

I know, newbie question here, but I tried to read all 158 pages and I just can't dig through all of it...

I have a 2020 DCSB OR and if I could afford it I would pick up some TRD Pro 4 Runner 17" wheels. Can I put pizza cutters on the stock suspension with the bigger wheels? 255/80/17 is the preferred size I assume. Regear required? Would C load help vs. E load?

This is all a pipe dream right now since COVID killed my income, but when it comes back I would love to pursue this. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
