unrelated thought of the day:

I've heard of spraying intercoolers to gain HP in cars... could the same idea work for A/C units on a house? Like if the fins on the outside unit were misted, would the efficiency go up enough to matter on the power bill?
(of course, it assumes rest of the system is reasonably efficient and cost of water or other consumables for the mist are cheap enough to ignore)

edit: never mind, searched and apparently there are devices that do that (been around for years) but it's a gimmick. With a little more thoughtful thought, I basically concluded that residential HVAC systems aren't designed to work in that way and there are other more effective ways to gain efficiency.

 

The difference is in convection and evaporation. A car moving down the road with air constantly moving across an intercooler is less thermally efficient (cools better) than a fan pulling through your central unit. @ThunderOne is the resident HVAC expert though.

Was your old locker the Lock Right or the No-Slip? Going off what I see, on the PowerTrax site and now that it's out of the carrier, appears to be the No-Slip. Again, based solely of pictures compared to what's sitting in front of me.

Plan to get a rebuild kit and hook someone up with a killer deal on a locker.

Just went over the install manual, and it's 100% what I just pulled out the carrier lol. One of the active spacers needs replaced, and all of the saddle springs were in bits.

Makes me second guess that I really didn't deflect my driveshaft all that much, and that the locker just pooped out on me instead, flinging parts into the ring/pinion causing that failure. However, the scars on the driveshaft tell me otherwise. They're deep in the paint, but not into the metal and no denting in the shaft.

 

No slip fa sho!

 

I figured that after I found the rebuild parts and install manuals on the site.

Went with the Lock Right from ECGS on the rebuild, hopefully I don't regret it!
