I think I'm going to refinance the house. I had a 25 year at 4.5%, going to a 15 at 3%. Adds about $200/month to the payment, but the interest savings is huge. I did the math based on selling in 5-1/2 years, and If I simply kept my current mortgage and paid the $200 extra per month, I'd be $8k behind versus paying the same amount on a 3% rate instead. The bank I went through for this mortgage said they'd do it for approximately $1800 in closing costs--I'd make that up within a year.

Smart move! I am hearing of great interest rates right now for everything. I am getting hounded by my truck dealer to get into another truck with 7 year, zero interest loans. That's crazy.

Ford's doing that too. They're also doing 60 months at 1.9% and allowing you to keep the incentives, which was tempting (7 years is insane--I'll have this truck paid off by 3-1/2 years or so). I went back and forth with a few dealers and found that some were willing to give me a good number on trade, but the discount on the truck wasn't great. Others did a good discount on the truck but an insulting trade amount. So I pretty much abandoned that for now, probably stick with my original plan of waiting a year. The only thing that would sway me to consider it is if Ford gave me a private cash offer since I'd never do better than that combination.

Used market is tough right now on trade values. At least from what I've seen. There are always cars that hold up better, but a lot of them lost a few thousand in the last couple months i think...

I did the home refi too, if we don't pay off early saving 80k...worth it to me, and since our loan was two months old, it was cheap to change the terms. Pay the difference in like 3 months, then its all savings.

Wasn't as bad as I thought it'd be. We just traded my wife's car last week. The dealer's pricing was really low on their used car and I thought they did alright on the value of my wife's car. I'm also one of those who focuses more on the delta between the 2 numbers than the individual numbers. The cost worked out, we traded in her 2016 almost base model Escape with just shy of 80k miles for a 2019 Flex limited with 15k miles, same loan term, low interest rate and ended up with a lower monthly payment. We were really close to having the 2016 paid off so we essentially reset the payment clock but it got her into something newer, a lot nicer, a little bigger for the kids and all the crap that travels with them and AWD.

I expected to see $23-23.5k for my truck. They seem to list around $27 for similar specs and miles. I had one tell me $20k and there's no way I could go that low. One did tell me $25 without seeing it, so I think they would have landed around where I wanted if they deducted some in person--and they were very fair on their truck too, but they were in Northern NH and I started digging into how to register it and found no appointments available any time I checked, so I opted not to get into that headache right now.

Yeah I mean part of it is its a good deal but a royal pain to figure out registration right now, not worth it if you have a good truck that handles what you need and it runs :)

Yup--I actually told them that was my reasoning and they didn't fight me like I expected. I think they get it. I looked not that long ago and one registry 2-1/2 hours from me had some slots and that was it.

My truck's fine, I'll hold onto it until I see exactly what I want and the numbers make sense.

Well because they aren't being held to the same numbers as before because nobody is, so the GMs aren't pushing and neither is corporate, etc. You can't sell to no leads!

But....You know they have you as a lead now....so they also probably backed off a bit now but will be back hard when it makes sense.

I love my new truck but miss my Tacoma
Years ago I put a little 8ft round blow up the top ring and fill it pool at my parents house so the kids had something to do when visiting the grandparents. The City of Attleboro sent a tax bill for it plus a fine for not pulling a permit!

I had to call them up but they did take it all away.

Yikes! Honestly, I'd considered one of those small inflatables also and never dreamed they'd require a permit.

It’s not just a MA thing on a permit for the inflatable pools...

According to my town, it's a depth thing:
A permit is required for any pools with more that 24” deep of water or more than 250 square feet and equipped with a permanent water re-circulating system.

Sounds like my little kiddie pool is just fine

Shop around for getting it trucked in, you'd want to put 6-8 inches of hose water in before but the water truck stuff is already treated at least. Using a lot of hose water will have a high iron content.

    Never does but...

    \
It is a depth thing. They don't want it too close to the house for one thing in case it breaks and you then chance flooding your house or a neighbor's house. Plus the towns are VERY strict at times about electrical and about fencing.

My town inspector is more strict than he has to be since there was a drowning in the town a long time ago..understandable. I had a 15" round when I first moved in here but had to take it down since it was over the height to require a fence and it was a POS anyway.

Trust me when I say you do not want to mess with building inspectors on this type of thing..they will haunt you.

Check pricing with your water utility. You may be pleasantly surprised.

Random question. Anyone have a pressure switch for an ARB compressor laying around that they'd be willing to part with? I want to replace mine to see if that will help to get my front air locker to engage. ARB part # C-035.

Wrentham but the Zoning Enforcement Officer has been very nice and helpful. Just seems like a decent amount of hoops to go through for an inflatable pool. Also had to draw out where we planned to put it.
Eh 15' diameter so its not huge. Sorry took the picture just now.20200527_231525.jpg
Yeah this is why I wanted to make sure we got the permit. Living on the main road (1A) is just asking for it. If I lived on a side street I am not sure if I would.
Shiiit I didn't even think of that... I already filled it so I'm stuck with it at this point.

It's not even the fact that it's inflatable or metal, it's the height of it that matters for safety..plus the distance from the house so you don't have issues. Trust me..I had a liner rip in mine and lost 2000 gallons in 24 hours, if that was anywhere near the house I'd have been screwed..

Even a side street you can get busted. I had an empty lot with trees next door when I moved here in 2004, the next year they started cutting trees to build. The inspector was there and left me a nasty note on my door to call him.

Financially it wouldn't have made a big difference I don't think. Worst case if you get scale or whatnot on the floor you might need to use Iron-Out but that's not terribly expensive. Job Lot is where I get all my shit unless they don't have it. If you didn't buy chlorine already, get the 3-1 tabs there.

Ugh that sucks... yeah our pool isn't super close to the house I would say about 25'.

Yeah we spoke to some people around here who got the same or similar pool but they never got a permit but they live on side roads. Makes sense to just do it. I wouldn't want to pay a much bigger fine for a $300 pool.

We ended up talking to someone at Namco and he gave us advice and what we needed. Most likely we will get the chemicals from OSJL when we need to get more.
