If you're using a Switch-Pros, there will be components (ring terminals, relay, switches) of the harness that you won't use anymore. The switch panel simplifies everything and allows the user to hook up their accessories by simply finding the power and ground. Off the harness, there should be a loom with three wires. A white, green, and black. White is power for the main light (+), green is for back light (+), and black is ground (-). The 40" S8 does pull 16.23 amps. If you've already installed everything, you can leave it and hook up the wire (yellow). It will just be redundant. The yellow wire is what turns on power to the main light. That will be hooked up to your Switch-Pros.

@Baja Designs do you know the length of the wire in the below harness? My homemade one isn't as big a gauge as I thought and I'm tripping the breaker on my switchpros all the time. I think mine is about 6 feet, but didn't wanna come up short with this one. Way cheaper than having to buy a whole roll of trailer cable from the guys down the street.

6 feet, it's a pretty beefy size wire too. 12 gauge on the ground and main power lead. Shoot me a PM if you need something longer, I can see what I can do.

do you have it on one of the 35a switches? a 40” draws almost 27amps

you would need to use 10awg for the wiring. Might could get by with 12awg if you kept it to less than 6ft run.

BD quotes the 40" at 240W which is 20A at 12V. I'm def at the very edge of the 20A circuit (Sw1), and was gonna move it anyways. I thought my wiring was 14ga which is fine per USCG critical wiring charts at <6ft, but its actually 16ga. Figured I'd make it more robust while I was changing things around anyways.

I had to go through and beef up some of my harnesses since I keep adding lights. My roof rack got split up into three 12 gauge leads and three relays. They get triggered together but I didn't want that much juice running off one wire/relay.

What is everyone's thoughts on running the squadron pro round version as ditch light..lame.? or should I get the square version?
I dig the round look, but tough time finding anyone that runs the r version as ditch lights. Bad idea?

@ovrlndkull runs the round ones I think. They don’t look that bad. The squadrons are probably smaller than you realize if you’ve never seen them in person.

It would be purely cosmetic. Hopefully someone can chime in with some pictures on their rig. But the bezels can be swapped out if you end up not liking one setup than the other. :)

Sounds like I can swap the bezel if I hate the r version.
    Yeah, never seen in person.

XL80s for the win. This is a much bigger truck tho, the squadrons look fine on the yotas. I’m a square bezel kinda guy myself especially when they’re exposed on the back since the rest of the housing is square. Looks kinda goofy to me.

loving my XL80’s but they bounce like a mofo on my ditch brackets. I wish someone would make a cowl mounted ditch bracket for the 3rd gens. These lights are just too heavy for the hood mounted brackets.

That would get old pretty quick. I’m lucky enough that SDHQ makes some pretty stout brackets for the 4th gen rams and my XL80/S1 combo is pretty rigid.
