I’m pretty sure those are the mounts they started making for the summit and atlas

A lot of people tend to overlook weight and Center of gravity. By the time you add a topper, rack, awning, RTT - it’s gonna weigh more than the habitat does.

you’ll definitely notice weight up high, especially off camber or other situations where CoG comes into play. It doesn’t feel like it’s gonna just flop over by any means but there’s been a couple times where I definitely noticed it.

Everything handles wind differently but my habitat the wind doesn’t really bother it at all. If you get some strong gusts the truck might rock a little but it’s not that big of a deal. You’ll get some movement from the rear springs but you can easily put a stabilizer in the rear and it’ll be totally solid.

So I got my habitat installed a few weeks ago. Here's how I wound up doing it.

First installed some ATH bed stiffeners.

I decided to use KB Voodoo bed caps to provide a smooth surface for good sealing. Prior to installing them I added window flashing tape on top of the bed sides.

Then I had to repair the broken rivets on the cab side of the Habitat. I drilled extra holes and added a total of 4 rivets to supplement the one.

I have a lift in my garage which made the install nice and easy. Was able to lower it onto my truck perfectly square.

The guy I bought the Habitat from did not use any bed rails so the holes were too high to use for securing it to the bed. I wound up cutting notches in the angle bar and used c-clamps to secure. I plan to cut or completely remove the angle bar at some point.

Testing the install on the driveway.

And was able to put the Habitat to use a week later for a couple nights. What a game changer the Habitat is. Didn't have to worry about finding a smooth flat spot!

I still need to upgrade the rear suspension. I'm thinking of using a stage 2 or 3 deaver expedition pack, but that likely will prevent me from parking in the garage. Also considering just an AAL with air bags and still fit in the garage.

@Soccerties Looks good! like your bed rail tape job. those rivets in the front corners are just part of their method when they apply heavy duty double stick tape that holds those corners together, i do not think they add structurally, but replacing and adding more no hurt either. in terms of serious adhesion heavy duty double stick tape, the angle 'irons' are also adhered with that tape, it is nearly impossible to remove those angle.

Yeah I read the post from the AT owner about the front rivets not being structural. He did follow up and say they use more than one rivet now so I figured I'd do the same.

As for the angle bar. I'll probably wind up cutting it like another guy on here. Someone did mention they managed to get it off though. Just took a lot of work.

Your truck looks great, and so does that camp site.

My Deavers (stage 3) are definitely keeping me from safely getting in my garage. I think my opening is right at 7 feet, or just under (I think that's pretty standard?). Last time I measured I was 7'2" to my highest point, but that was before I stuck my maxtrax up there. But it's also possible my added weight might squish me down a lil... but loaded or unloaded it would be a TIGHT fit height-wise, and yes, i'm on OEM tire size.

As long as my truck is now I probably couldn't fit in my shallow garage anyhow :(

Some people may find that question quite inappropriate. But since I've just reached my goal and I'm pretty proud of it, I'm at 145 lbs, down from 180 at the end of October.

Oh... wait... prolly talking about the truck...

Several months back I had it pretty much loaded, other than Food/Drinks/Clothes and hit the dump scale with Wife and I in it, 6040 lbs total. So the weight I lost I more than made up for in Brute Force Rear swingout which wasn't on yet. So yeah... 6200+ I bet FULLY loaded with everything including the kitchen sink.

    Hows about you?

    6060 w/o me.

two jerry cans, 33" tire on the swing out and a fridge. some spare parts, chainsaw, zeon 10000, etc.

Once I get some cabinetry inside I should be around 6300.

most of the folks running the U402 Stage X are at 7k w/ the Vagabond. Though the weight comes in w/ the 10 gallon water tank, spare axles, propshaft, hardware for busted brake lines, full tool kits, solar, etc. Some folks are running a Currie w/ a Ford 9.

Yikes. And I thought 6K was a lot of weight. Hopefully my stock axle survives.

I am really looking forward to a regear, though. Just sent a request for a rough estimate on 4.30s and some other maintenance.

I just find it hilarious that my truck weighs about the same as my sister's Ford Raptor.
