I recently bought a 2020 TRD sport and do not have a cargo light it’s just a brake light. How can I add the switch and cargo light. I have done a lot of searching but can not find and information.

@mattgecko has a much better offering than a roof mounted cargo light, assuming all you want is bed lighting.

And you really don't want to mess with that brake light. It's a known leak point for some folks (from the factory) and has sogged up a few headliners and interior seating.

Welcome to the forum. Access cabs do not have the same third brake light as double cabs. 3rd Gen AC’s use the same light as 2nd Gen’s. There’s only a few options to add cargo lights. @MESO makes a cool replacement, you could add bed lights, or you could fabricate your own like I did. They don’t look cool, but they work.

I have read the issues with the 3rd brake light and leaking. I was hoping to use the holes in the back of the bed for the optional bed lights that but also need the switch for that.

It depends. I made some lighting for my Softopper. I used a 12V LED strip and power it with my boost pack:

I ran a couple of strip LEDs under the rails and wired them to a door switch at the tailgate. It's a pretty straight forward install. Ran power back there the same time I installed the pop & lock.

you can replace the OE unit and seal the new one. my OE light was cracked, not leaking, but my stereo was basically waiting to fry one day. this is MESO's BD4 replacement with 4 BD rock lights, 2 red inside & 2 white outside. it came with a pre installed o-ring, but i also added a ring of RTV silicone inside that. it's sealed good.20200513_200534.jpg
