3" Lift + CV Angles - bring pics

Ok fellas, just got 3" under the truck. Eyeballing the CV axles leads me to believe they're over angle. Pics below for your consideration.

Passenger side is sitting 39" from pavement (285 tires, roughly 33"), driver's side is sitting at 38 3/4" from pavement. Granted, the lift has not yet had time to settle, but these CV angles look pretty extreme to me for neighborhood of 3".

What I'd like is for those of you with 3" lifts, if you could throw pics of your CVs into this thread. Even better if you've had it on for a while (several months or more) with no CV problems.

Honestly, with the way these are looking right now, I'm thinking I'm gonna drop to 38.5".

Driver's Side - Angle looks near the limit, but possibly acceptable to my eye:


Passenger's Side - This one looks fucked to me. For 1/4" more lift, the CV sure is a lot less happy.

 

Is this after driving with the lift? That will bring the angles down as well because everything needs to settle into place.

 

It's had about 20 miles since lifting. I think complete settling will take a few hundred to fatigue the springs. Truck doesn't get driven much...it's not my DD.

 

ah, well they look about normal to me. Your right about the settling.

 

Hence the pic request. Looking to put to bed whether or not they're in the ballpark.

Granted CVs are cheap to replace, but I'd rather not on a regular basis if I can avoid it, obviously.

 

I don't think it could hurt to drop it a tad. I'm curious what other's will say.

 

They dont look horrible, but they do look as if they are at the max

Which *part* of the fin? They may be touching down near the base, but the "peaks" at the tops of the fins are not digging into the sides of any of the others.

I'm not entirely sure you know what a CV is...

 

Your not showing him anything useful since you do not have CV's

1st gen but still a 3" lift. The first pic looks bad because the it was taken at a bad angle. Ive got about 15,000 miles on the lift, so it's settled by now. Hope this helps.

Certainly. I'll probably get some shots of it tomorrow. I don't think my lift is 3" though.

 

Here's mine,no adjustments from toytec .I'll wait a few months to see if it settles .
