TRD Pro Desert air snorkel?

HI EVERYONE, I AM NEW TO THIS FORUM. I HAVE A QUESTION. I BOUGHT A 2020 TRD PRO ARMY GREEN MANUAL .. YES A MANUAL. THAT WAS HARD TO FIND !!!
THE DEALER WILL NOT SELL ME THE DESERT AIR SNORKEL. WHAT GIVES WITH THAT ??
I EVEN CALLED THE PARTS DEPT AND GAVE THEM MY FRIENDS TACO VID# WITH THE FACTORY SNORKEL. STILL CANT GET ONE..TOYOTA IS NOT GIVING ME A REASON..JUST CANCEL CANCEL. ANYBODY KNOW WHY !!!! THANKS A BUNCH. LOOKING FORWARD TO ENJOY THIS FORUM...

I would get an ARB or Dobinson's snorkel anyway, they look 100x better than the TRD ones.

But to answer your question, I'm guessing it's because they want to keep the TRD snorkel exclusive to the TRD Pros that are built with them. Who knows why. If you really want one, I'm sure you could find someone on here or elsewhere that would trade you their TRD snorkel for your intact fender.

Why do you say its stupid? I bricked my taco and wish i had a snorkel. Don't know how air tight it is from intake to snorkel but it mightve helped my situation.

From what little I know about the factory snorkel is that its not for water, its a dust snorkel. It just puts your intake higher up if you travel dusty roads more. The other snorkels you can buy are designed for water.

Do you want the snorkel for looks, or are you planning to do heavy water crossings?

 

You do realize you'd have to buy an entirely new fender to use the TRD desert air intake, right?

Also, caps lock is cruise control for ̶c̶o̶o̶l̶ fool.

The dealer probably doesnt want to be liable for cutting a hole in your fender if they mess it up

 

The snorkel is for fresh air only, not for water or driving in water...

 

No sir I can not buy one, even using my friends vin# which came with one. STRANGE !!!

A properly plumbed and sealed snorkel will provide better protection than the factory air intake location (inside the passenger fender well) when going through even moderate puddles. Does it turn your truck into a submarine? No. Does it provide peace of mind when driving through standing water a couple of feet deep? It does. And not just on trails. Some people live in areas that flood frequently during afternoon thunderstorms as well as from tropical systems.
