2020 Tacoma OEM LED Headlight Megathread

I tried for 6 months to get Mike to make me one but he has a lot of orders. Way backed up!

 

Anybody hear from Mike lately? I’ve read through various posts that he’s backed up, but I haven’t heard from him for two weeks. My harness was supposed to ship 05/14 and still haven’t received it. I’m on week 6 now....

Edit: Heard back from Mike tonight who advised the harness will ship out this Friday.

 

The harness from Mike is definitely worth the wait. I'm glad I ordered early on when he first started making them.

 

This is from the Vin number look up for the truck that I have ordered it is supposed to get here at the end of the month. I know this means that it doesn’t have the LED headlights but does it mean that the daytime running lights are in the headlight(L pattern) as well as LED fog lights?

 

I think you just got the regular L DRLs and regular fog lights. The L DRLs are leds and it doesn’t specify LED fog lights, it’s says LED DRLs and fog lights. So you will probably end up with halogen fogs. LED fogs are only like $100 if you want them though.

 

Yeah, I think if they were LED fog lights that they would say black bezel.

 

So this will be the headlight I have?

 

Most likely, that looks like the 2020 TRD OR headlight that isn't LED with the chrome and the MGM plastic around the side marker. You get the L DRLs with TRD OR if that is what you are wondering if you don't get LED headlights.

 

So I stupidly bought a 2020 TRD Sport 4v4 not knowing the LED headlights were an option ($500 from the dealer, $1500 just for the lights alone!).

I saw someone here posting about Mike. Does he make the Harness? If so how do I get him to make one/order one?

 

I know I'm quoting an old post, but its worth it to let you know that we still don't care that you feel this way. It only points out your insecurity at seeing someone spend way less on a truck than you did and end up with something completely comparable, or better after a couple of mods.

 

No problem. And, no, you’ll just have to shell out the dough. Even the aftermarket ones (morimoto and alpharex) are only a couple hundred dollars cheaper. Maybe they’ll get cheaper as the years go by and the secondary market gets larger.

 

I thought so, thank you! I hate to say it but I was hoping someone gets rear ended and sells them on flEaBAY for cheap. Otherwise, I'd rather have the OEM lights. Wish I had thought about this before I picked up the truck!! (kicking self in pants!)

 

Yup, that’s where the secondary market will grow from - car accidents. I bought one new and one used. The used one I saved about $100 on (including reduced shipping costs). Can’t wait to get them on!

Are the LED options for the Tacoma also LED on the back? I haven't checked mine to see if they are LED. I can't step on the brakes and walk to the back LOL!

 

He put 2020 headlights and wheels on his truck, so he can't say much about false advertising when he has a 2019, lol.

 

Im not even sure if it was off a rig that was in accident. It actually looks like it was never installed.

While there’s no OEM LED upgrade for the taillights, MESO Customs has a plug-n-play kit that’s actually being restocked tomorrow. I’m going to order that one for my rig.

 

I went stage 2 and I love them. Stage 1 is still pretty sick too and complete plug and play
