They just recently caught up from the last group buy. Took them like 6 months to fill all the orders. Probably gonna be a while before they do another.

If someone accidentally bashed their powder coated bumper into a rock and was looking for some touch-up paint.. would anyone have suggestions that matches SSOs finish?

    Hey everyone,

Check it out! Installed this weekend with the help of my wife, if you can believe it :).

She helped me with the taping and cutting, largely because I didn't want to be solely responsible for the outcome, and it turned out great. She also helped me lift it on to the truck, with the help of a floor jack.

I haven't put the winch to work yet, but at this point I'm very happy with the bumper. I bought it bare metal and painted it myself with truck bed liner. I used a bottom coating air gun from Amazon, which worked ok. I think if doing it again, I would only use the air gun for the first couple of coats to get the hard to reach places, then use a brush to lay it on thick in the large areas. I'm going to add at least one more heavy coat now that its on the truck. I probably used 1/2 gal or slightly more of Rust-Oleum 342669 Truck Bed Coating, Black (which I used on my sliders as well).

I mounted a Smittybilt X20 comp (10k lbs). It fit perfectly with the control module on the far left side (not on top of the winch). I used stainless fender washers on the underside of the winch plate (the bolt side). I considered putting washers under the winch itself, but decided against that at the last minute.

Here are a few of my critical comments:
    1. Light bar fitment - I had to bend the tabs pretty significantly, after painting, to get the Heise 20" to fit the brackets. I would have expected more exact fitment considering ordering it specifically for that light. Further, there is a pretty significant gap around the light housing, it makes me wonder if I received the correct bumper.
    2. Hardware - The flange on the flange head nuts that came with the bumper were significantly smaller than the OEM, so I reused OEM. There was no washers included in the kit, which seems like a major oversight. I don't see how this bumper could be installed without them, even reusing the OEM nuts. The lower 12mm bolts definitely need washers, not included in the kit. I added stainless washers to all bolts. Which slowed me down by having to make another trip to the hardware store for surprisingly expensive washers.
    3. Support brackets - still not sure what to do with those, I don't see where to attach them. Also missing the proper hardware to do so. The isntructions don't really show what to do here.

Hey That looks great. Can I barrow your wife for the day so I can blame someone else if it doesn't come out right. :D That's a pretty good strategy. It's still going to be a couple of months before I'm able to install mine. Thanks for the heads up on the lack of hardware. I'll have to double check mine before I start so I have everything I need.
Pretty cool that she was willing to help out.
    Truck looks great. Good work.

It took about 4 months for us to complete everything to be honest, their was 2 bumpers that we had issues with in house that needed to be redone and got overlooked due to a glitch in our system we use to talk to our fabricators (Provide them work orders). I believe I rectified that with both forum members. To be honest, we got just about 100 orders give or take, and I was expecting 30... so yeah, we got a little overwhelmed but we did end up handling it in a timely manner for the most part. Consider that same month, we had about 50 Tacoma bumpers get ordered that had nothing to do with the group buy at all. It was the month of Tacomas for sure at SSO lol.

Passing this on to our technical guy.

Thank you, sir. I am going to post a few more pics of my wiring setup as well, now that I have the light bar.

How was the install of the winch? - Did you have to relocate the solenoid, if so how and where?

    Thank you!

I ended up using rustoleum enamel satin black and it matches well enough.

The winch was super easy to install for me. Actually, the whole bumper installation seemed like a piece of cake. I kept thinking that the hard part was still to come and then suddenly I was done. I did have one person helping me though which made it a thousand times easier.

The winch comes with mounting hardware for the solenoid on either the side or top of the winch. I went with the top and it fit with room to spare. I don't have the winch access holes in my bumper so you need to open the hood to get to the controls, but even with the solenoid on the top you can still see and reach everything without a problem.

The one and only thing I did wrong was not get the rubber boots over the positive and negative terminals before mounting. The first time I tried to test it out it arced a bit and there was some lovely smoke. I don't think there was any real damage done but make sure you get those securely in place because it's almost impossible once it's all installed.

this was on the smittybilt x20 winch correct?

no need to relocate the box and the box fit right on the top center of the winch?
