It was SNST or back into MITI.

Both tips came from the same guy and he's not the kind that flips stocks or does the pump and dump scam.

Government regulating what private institutions decide to censor or not is never a good thing, that sets a very dangerous precedence.

These people whining about censorship need to start their own platform.

I'm for 100% free speech regardless of how offensive it is BUT believe private institutions can do what they want on their own platform.

Their immunity from being held libel as a "publisher or news org" requires them to be unbiased. They never have been. The censorship they have been doing is extremely one sided.

I'd prefer they would just be like they claim and then they wouldn't be getting hit by the EO.

I agree, it’s a direct violation of the First Amendment for the government to censor speech (with some exceptions). It is perfectly legal for a private company to do it (with some exceptions, a little more complex). I don’t know the answer to this, but government censoring free speech isn’t it!

I agree that the government shouldn't censor free speech - we'll see what the EO actually says. Without getting political, I'll just say that I've read some of the governor EO's recently here in GA and SC and the actual details tend to be a bit different from the headlines. Guarantee it'll land in court either way.

I'll just say that if a company chooses to not behave like a common-carrier, then they shouldn't enjoy the protections from citizen/group lawsuits granted to common carriers.

This will be a Marsh v. Alabama issue with the way social media had grown into almost a “public” area.

I guess I did learn something in law school :D

Now I'm gonna have to go look that one up. No law school, but spent plenty of time in contract / business law in b-school.

It just reminded me of a case about a privately owned town that was not allowed to censor free speech. You can read a details, but I think this will play out the same, and Twitter and FB will have to be looked at as if they’re public spaces (digital towns almost). It’s perfect case law for what social media has become.

Edit: When I was in school (until 2013), how to regulate the internet was a very gray area. I think we’re still far from figuring it out, but things like this will inevitably happen and need to be addressed.

Just don't be surprised when those same companies decide to flat out ban users who post anything that has even the potential for legal action against them. Aka anything they deem "false" or "misleading" or "dangerous" ... Resulting in more censorship.. which is what people are complaining about.

In the short term, puts on Twitter lol

I just sold all of my shares for $8.03, I had 196 shares and they sold immediately in the after hours.

Yea, that’s rough with where it was mid morning. These dividend cuts are getting old.

I ended up with a pretty large position in SPHD because I have been putting all of the cutters there. That position is already up like $1k in capital gains, it’s for the dividends though so it will ride for a while.

Probably a smart move. Still worth taking a shot on the chance at the higher dividend stocks from time to time and hope they can keep it.
